On my "soon to read" list is a book mentioned in the bibliography of JMG's "Monsters" book: "Aristocracy of the Dead" by Arthur S. Berger. Berger examines 100 years of research about life after death, and presents findings that death doesn't result in some kind of equality. Maybe the information in that book might provide some possible answers about ghost elites and ghost societies.
