This is my eighty-third book, just coming off the presses as I write this, the third of the instructional volumes in the Golden Section fellowship and the sixth of seven volumes in the complete series -- the seventh, The Life Force Workbook, isn't finished yet. If you've read the first two books of occult training in this series, you know to expect a quirky but effective reworking of the system of occult training I learned from my teacher John Gilbert, with a focus on meditation and plenty of material to work on. Like the two previous volumes, this'll keep you busy for a year or so, and you'll finish up the process with a bumper crop of practices and insights you can use for your own personal quest for wisdom, revelation, and enlightenment. It's from the same publisher as my titles The Occult Book and The Conspiracy Book, and like them it's a coffee table book, with 100 vignettes from the history of unexplained things in the sky. It's not like my other book on the subject, The UFO Chronicles, in that I don't propose explanations -- this is purely a chronology of remarkable sightings from around the world and across the years. This is my eighty-first published book, the third entry in my series of occult detective novels starring eighteen-year-old Ariel Moravec and her adept grandfather Dr. Bernard Moravec. As I think I mentioned here already, I didn't intend these to be young-adult novels -- I simply wanted a protagonist who was in a good situation to begin occult training, and had plenty of entertaining problems of her own. Nonetheless I was delighted a while back to hear from a reader whose young daughter, a fan of these novels, has begun calling them "Nancy Druid stories."

In this third installment, Ariel and her grandfather are caught up in a mystery surrounding a strange artifact from pre-Roman Italy, a bronze plaque with wolves and an inset moon of carnelian. The Heydonian Institution wants it for their collection of ancient magical items, but somebody else is after it, too -- and circumstantial evidence suggests that the somebody in question might just run on all fours and bay at the moon on certain nights. As Ariel researches the truth behind the old myth of the werewolf she hurtles toward a dangerous confrontation on the night of the full moon...

Many years ago, not long after I became an initiate in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), I started collecting scraps of data on the 22 emblems that are included in the degree ceremonies, and self-published a little staplebound booklet about them. A couple of years ago, I was contacted by some other Odd Fellows who were trying to increase interest in our old (and yes, rather odd) initiatory order and asked to permit a reprint. You can always get a lot of interest by telling people to engage in orgiastic excess, and curiously enough, you can also get a lot of interest by telling people that sex is bad and God will spank them for thinking about it. Suggest something in between these extremes and nothing like so many people want to hear about it. Be that as it may, this is a practical handbook of magical practices that use redirected, sublimated erotic energies; the participants sit several feet from each other, usually with an altar in between them, and stay fully clothed. This is my seventy-sixth published book, the second workbook and fifth volume in the Golden Section Fellowship sequence of occult training textbooks. Earth mysteries, for those who aren't familiar with the term, is a catchall label for all the strange things associated with ancient ruins, folk traditions, places where paranormal things happen much more often than usual. The book on the right, John Michell's visionary masterpiece The View Over Atlantis, was my introduction to the field back in the day, as it was for so many other people -- it didn't hurt that the cover art was by Roger Dean, more famous for all that hallucinatory Yes album cover art -- and this book is partly my homage to Michell and a vanished era, partly a guide to integrating earth mysteries studies with occult training, and partly -- or mostly -- a hands-on guide to finding the weirdness in the place where you live.
