The Weird of Hali: ArkhamTentacle fans and cultists of the Great Old Ones take note -- despite a minor flurry of last-minute delays, the final volume of my epic fantasy with tentacles, The Weird of Hali: Arkham, is now available for preorder and will be shipped on October 16. Here's the back cover blurb:

********
The Stars Are Right At Last...

Twenty years have passed since the ancient war between the Great Old Ones and their bitter enemies swept Owen Merrill away from the world he thought he inhabited. As a seventh-degree initiate in the Starry Wisdom Church, he knows that the time is close when Great Cthulhu will awaken in his temple-tomb in drowned R’lyeh and end that war once and for all. Neither he nor any of the servants of the Great Old Ones is prepared, however, for the last desperate counterstroke of the Radiance—the unleashing of the Color out of Space, an alien form of matter that can end all life on Earth.

As the final conflict looms, Owen flings himself on a last desperate quest to stop the descent of the Color out of Space. His journey will take him from the ruins of a New Jersey college town to a long-forgotten stair descending into a Virginia graveyard, and then to the Dreamlands and beyond. Helping him are a renegade Radiance negation team commander, a sorcerer out of archaic legend, the youngest of the Great Old Ones, and his own witch-daughter Asenath, but against him stands the massed might of the Radiance, a being of the outer voids summoned by the enemies of the Great Old Ones, and the Color out of Space itself...

Interested? Copies of the print edition can be preordered here; the ebook editions will be available for preorder shortly at the same URL -- and on October 16, Great Cthulhu rises from the sea...

Sounds like it'll be out just around the time I'll be finishing up The Shoggoth Concerto! I wonder if it might be the same New Jersey college town...

I just bought kingsport and am about to start reading it, looks like I have lots to look forward to.

Does it matter where I read the shagoth concerto in relation to the main series and, in universe, when does it take place relative to the rest?

Many thanks

Looking forward to it!

No Shipping Charge?

I just went to order it, but there was no shipping charge on the order page or on the paypal payments page. Do you know if this was an oversight? I don't want to short-change Founders House, as I know it's a small operation. Have you heard anything from Shaun about that?

Disregard previous comment about shipping issue

I'm having so much fun with the tentacle tales; thanks for bringing some light into an otherwise dark period personaly (health issues are a real bummer). Not finished with the Shogoth Concertos yet, I'm savoring every bite, and eagerly await The Nyogtha Variations.

Don't know where you're going next but I've got my tickets and my bags packed. See you there.

It’s always a good time for tentacled horrors.

Get well soon.

I didn’t want to put this on the other site and distract the smart folks who are still gamely plowing through Dion Fortune, but it IS funny, so...

What kind of world do we live in where MARINES can’t yell at each other?

(General Nuisance and his staff are shaking their heads and laughing at the article...)

Reporting from Fantasyland,

(Now all we have to do is figure out: is Fantasyland where General Nuisance lives, or is it where WE live? 😄😳)

That’s what Mrs. Nuisance said, although she suspects her husband of being a frequent border-crosser. 😄

JMG, you and the General are right. He lives in reality. We don’t. 😳

https://brasspills.com/her-boyfriend-is-a-fictionkin-who-believes-hes-an-anime-character-she-doesnt-know-what-to-do/

(Article has a couple of un-Druidly words in it.)

This article reminds me of the lady who got her 15 minutes of fame by crawling around on her hands and knees meowing and insisting she was a cat. Not one reporter asked the only relevant question: “Do you use a toilet or a litter box?”

Although now that I think about it, “fictionkin” could be the well-known phenomenon of characters coming to life in a way that’s NOT good for their creator.

The Marines

Well, the DIs certainly still know how to yell at the recruits in MCRB Parris, or they did when we went to our daughter's graduation in June.

I don’t think they’ll EVER stop yelling at recruits, but Marines used to enjoy yelling (in fun) and being profane at each other, and that’s apparently why General Cooling is now cooling his heels in a backwater command rather than moving on to 2-star. Looking at the article again, his mistake seems to be not conforming to the behavioral standards of Upper Middle Class women. He didn’t use his indoor voice. 😉

Congratulations to daughter!

Yeaaa!!!

JA-IN

From: (Anonymous)
I think this word is or was slang in German at one point - haven't fount it anywhere else:

JA + NEIN = JAIN

And it's exactly how I feel about the last book in the series - yes I want to read it so much, but not really because then it means it's over!!!

And for the first time the ebook is available before the print version!!! Yes!!! Nooooooo! ok, too late, already bought it and started it -

Thank you

(yes I know many don't approve of ebooks, but it's a Kobo and it makes it easier and a bit cheaper if you're short of funds)

Just finished my first read-through.

I felt a love and appreciation for the source material that many modern Mythos writers don't seem to have.

(As an aside, when [spoiler] and his teacher showed up in your imagination space, did they reveal any long-lost lore of the OG Druids while they hung around? ;-) )
