Essene Apprentice Attunement

Here are the instructions for the first attunement, which I will be conferring via distance working on Saturday, January 14, at noon, 6 pm, and midnight Eastern time. If you are planning to receive the attunement, please review the instructions below several times and follow them precisely.  Remember also that you need to have learned and practiced all the preceding material, and empowered your healing hands in the way already taught every day for at least the seven days prior to the attunement.

If you're just joining us now, you'll want to go back to the beginning of this sequence of posts and work through the whole series of posts. There will be other opportunities for attunement later on, so you haven't missed out. My plan is to get at least a few people initiated as Essene master teachers before the year is out, so that there'll be plenty of opportunities to learn and receive attunement in the future.

Instructions for the Apprentice Attunement

To receive attunement as an Essene Apprentice, you will need to have learned and practiced all the Candidate and Apprentice lessons, as discussed in an earlier paper.

You will also need to choose some name of the Divine to invoke in your attunement. This may be a personal or an impersonal name.  If you have a relationship with a deity, you may choose to use the name of that deity. If not, you may use an impersonal term such as “the Divine” or “the Universe” in the relevant place.

If you have a religious or spiritual name distinct from your ordinary name, you may use this in the ritual, and there is a specific place for you to reference this in the attunement. If you intend to use your ordinary name, say your full name instead.

Approximately ten minutes before the attunement:

Dress comfortably, leaving the top of your head uncovered.  Sit in a comfortable position, with room for a person to stand behind as well as in front of you. Activate your palm centers as you have already learned to do. Then enter into meditation, using whatever method you have practiced.

At the time of the attunement:

Become aware of the initiator standing behind you. Hear the following questions being asked, and give the answers out loud.

            Question:          What is your intention?

            Answer:            To become the Healing Hands for (name of the Divine)

            Question:          By what name do you wish to be initiated?

            Answer:            (States religious or spiritual name, magical motto, or ordinary name)

The initiator then says:

            (Name) become now the Healing Hands of (name of the Divine). 

The initiator traces a secret sign on the crown of your head, and then says:

            (Name) receive now the Breath of (name of the Divine) to activate your Healing Hands. 

The initiator breathes on the crown of your head, and traces two more secret signs, then says:

            This will help you establish and support your Healing Hands. 

The initiator moves around you to stand in front of you and says:

            (Name) give me your left hand to receive the Triangle of Water and the Circle of Earth.

The initiator traces two more secret signs on your left hand, and then says:

            (Name) give me your right hand to receive the Triangle of Fire and the Circle of Air.

The initiator traces the same two secret signs on your right hand, and then says:

            In the name of (name of the Divine), I proclaim you Apprentice (Name).

This completes the attunement.

After the attunement:

Remain in meditation for a few more minutes to allow the attunement process to complete itself. For the weeks that follow, it is helpful to keep track of any new experiences you may have and to write down any unusual dreams you may recall.

Congratulations, Essene Apprentice!

Congratulations indeed in completing your attunement as an Apprentice.  Please review the previous lessons and continue your practices while you mature your first attunement. You can begin studying the Healer work at any time after you have received your Apprentice attunement.

You will experience several phenomenon as a result of your attunement.  Many of these will be personal and affect only you.  Some will be universal and are experienced by all Apprentice Essene Healers.

As you continue your daily practices with the Healing Breath you will begin to remember your dreams in more detail and you will find it beneficial to keep a dream journal as your dreams become more and more spiritual in nature.

 As you continue your daily practice with the Healing Breath your Third Eye will awaken more and more and you will begin to experience psychic phenomenon in different ways. Your hands will start to activate on their own without any conscious effort on your part and this is a sign you need to send somebody or something healing energy.  As you do reflexology with your own feet on a weekly basis, you'll begin to get some insights into the health and nutrition needs of your own body and you will find it helpful to act on these insights.  As you do foot reflexology with others you'll receive intuitive insights they will find helpful if you share your insights with them.

As you continue these practices you'll begin to feel them operate on a deeper and deeper level within yourself.

As you activate your hands on a daily basis, you'll find it easier and easier to activate them more and more quickly, with less and less conscious effort.  In a few weeks you will be able to activate your hands by thinking the symbols in your mind.  A few weeks later you will be able to activate your hands by an act of will without even thinking about the symbols.  Your hands will automatically activate during the day to alert you to the need for healing needed by another life-form (mineral, plant, animal or human on any plane) or by a situation in which you find yourself.

The more you work with the Essene teachings, the more of the healing energy of the Divine will flow through you.

If I'm not sure which deity to ise, would it be ok to say "the gods of the Celtic Golden Dawn tradition," or "the gods with whom I work?"

Alternatively, would you recommend a god or goddess from that tradition?

I have prayed to Sul to good effect before in healing matters, due to the epithet "Sul of the healing springs" but am not sure if there is a more obvious option. Sirona or Olwen also strike me as potentially healing, and I have a close relationship with Ceridwen if it's best to choose one of your most significant deities.

Any of those deities would be fine. Ceridwen is a little more closely connected to healing, and she's the one I'd choose if I was going through this with that specific symbolism in mind.

May we attended multiple sessions that day? Would that be beneficial?

You may if you wish, but having multiple attunements that close together won't do much. I'd recommend instead redoing the attunement in a month or two when I next do it -- you'll have had time for the first attunement to ripen and doing it again will give you a significant boost.

At the end, with both hands presented, do I just return them to my thighs and meditate for a bit?

A few questions, if I may:

1. You‘ve mentioned elsewhere that certain of the practices you teach could potentially lead to (physical) problems if combined with certain other practices, e.g. certain energy works combined with Tai Chi style energy works.

Is there anything the Modern Order of Essenes work is or might be incompatible with?

My hunch is no (a divine healing energy should be able to play nice with all kinds of energy bodies and energy works, shouldn‘t it?), but I‘d rather know for sure.

2. Does the divine name chosen for this ceremony have any implications for the future? (E.g. does this mean one would always be bound to working with this particular name/form of the divine, or this particular deity, when doing the MOE work?)

3. And finally, out of curiosity: Why is it important to use one‘s full name?

1) I've never encountered any conflict between the Essene work and anything else. That said, if you have doubts, I recommend casting a divination.

2) Yes, you're making a commitment to work with that form of the divine. Choose carefully.

3) You don't have to use your full name. You can use any name you prefer. If you don't have a specific name in mind, use your full name.

3) Does the specific name have any particular implications later on? It would feel more natural to me to just go by my first name, but I’m not sure what I might or might not be getting into with the choice of name. :-)

4.) For non-native speakers, would it be better to do their own part of the ritual in English or in their native languages?

1) No, not in most cases. If you use a religious name in the attunement, and later renounce that name, I suppose it could be a problem.

2) Doesn't matter in the least. I believe the ceremony has been done at least once in the Lakota language.

I will be there as well. The times turn into 6 pm, midnight and 6 am sunday here in Spain, so no matter what my day turns out to be, i'll manage to attend.

Is it helpfull to open a full grove for the attunement? Or better just a SOP?

Secret Signs

1) I realise the word 'secret' is in the description but can you provide any clarification on the nature/purpose of the seven secret signs... eg how do the second and third signs on your head help establish and support your healing hands...

2) Assuming it is you drawing the symbols somewhere between Apprentice and Master-facilitating-the-attunememt you learn what they are ... how many levels/grades are there?

3) re receiving the triangles and circles is there an actual exchange going on and from whom do we receive them?

4) If you received your healing hands in the name say Apollo and later switched to Christianity or the Norse pantheon would you need to re-attune or is it one size fits all once received? Same query if you change your 'username'...

5) I guess that answers my question re being able to activate them by an act of will or if you were in the stocks etc :)

1) The secret signs are secret, and they're signs. That's what I can tell you at this stage. If you persevere and qualify as an Essene master healer, you'll get the details.

2) You might want to go back and reread the first post in this sequence, where that's explained along with other things. The short form is that there are three levels of attunement.

Apologies was very tired when I wrote and had not re-checked the initial post ... mea culpa.

I knew the chances of me being free at (my time) 9am or 3pm were minimal so went with the 3am (first) version. Was kind of hoping to get back to sleep afterwards but basically just zonked while awake for the next four hours (got to practice my relaxation and breathing a lot!). Thank you.

Q1 ... in the lesson Healing 1 it is pitched in singular format (eg moving to the place where healing is needed/to the place where you want to heal yourself) if you or someone was looking for healing for say your teeth and your knee would it be two seperate sessions or one session where the energy goes from right hand to knee to mouth to left hand or ... ?

Q2 ... does the location need to be specific or can you do a kind of 'I wish to be whole ... heal whatever needs healing' directive and let the flows loose?

Q3 ... With the foot reflexology. We are told not to touch anyone for healing so would I be correct in assuming that you have to make sure your hands are deactivated when doing this on another. When you are doing it on yourself does it work any better if you make sure that they *are* activated or keep them off? Oh and I finally clicked that when doing the foot relexology for someone else and it says to stop where it is tender that I wasn't supposed to somehow discern that myself but the recipient would be telling me ... *sigh*

1) I tend to focus on a single issue in each session, but your mileage may vary.

2) It can be as general as you want.

3) The advice not to touch is specific to the Essene energy healing system, but you should also make sure that you can do reflexology in your country, state, or province without being licensed as a massage therapist. In general, you'll be practicing reflexology on yourself and family members, and teaching other people to practice on themselves and family members; if you want to practice reflexology on people in general, I recommend signing up for reflexology classes, because the Essene system is very basic and there's a lot more to reflexology.

I have a busy Saturday ahead but I'm going to try hard to fit this in. You mentioned booking an hour's free time but this reads like it oughtn't take more than 20 minutes really?

May I additionally ask:

- Ought we picture the triangle/circles in our palms at the appropriate stage, or are the secret signs something else?
-I am considering naming Sul. I don't have a close relationship with any deity really, but I have prayed to her a few times, and have performed the associated seasonal Grove ritual from the DH. I take it that's good enough for the purpose?

1) It usually takes around 20 minutes but you may feel a little shaky afterwards, depending on how your subtle body responds to the attunement.

2) The secret signs are something else.

3) Yes. I'd encourage you to pray to her again and let her know what you have in mind, as a simple act of courtesy.

Importance of 2nd Person in Blessing Walk

Very much looking forward to this! In reviewing the materials posted so far, I came across one of those "whoah, I've been doing that all wrong" things: on my blessing walks, I had been offering blessings in the 3rd person ("I put forth my blessings to him, to her, to that bird, etc") but I see that the instructions say to use the 2nd person, so I did that today, and I felt noticeably different! Hopefully doing it "wrong" these past ~6 weeks doesn't affect my attunement too negatively.

A couple of questions, if I may:

If a remote healing hands session is done to a person who has not yet woken up (due to time zone differences between the “healer” and the “client”), is it effective? Or does remote healing hands work only when the “client” is in the waking state of consciousness?

When I initiate my healing hands, as well as when I use the healing hands technique, I find that it is the “feminine” in-breath (energy flow into the left hand) that really gets the flow going rather than the “masculine” out-breath (energy flow out of the right hand). The two analogies that come to my mind are (a) the dam (masculine) will continue to accumulate water until an outlet (feminine) is created; and (b) it does not matter how much a guy wants a relationship with a gal, if she’s not interested, it’s not going anywhere (not as though I have ever experienced that myself 😉). Is this “left getting the flow going” a common experience? Or is it just me?

1) That's a fascinating question to which the material passed on to me offers no conclusive answers. I've used the healing hands on people who were comatose with good results, but the instructions I received have that detail -- which you've also obviously read -- about how the flow of the healing energy lasts until the recipient next sleeps. Detailed investigations by a good clairvoyant or two would be needed to figure out exactly how this works.

2) That varies very much from person to person. Some people find that the receptive hand is most important in getting energy flowing, others find that it's the active hand.
