Tim VenturaAnd another podcast -- and for a change, it's on the other side of my work. This time I'm with futurist Tim Ventura, talking about catabolic collapse. It's a good crisp conversation, not least because Tim's got a solid business background -- that's his logo to the left -- and so understands that collapse is ultimately an economic process; we were able to get into some of the nuts and bolts of the process by which civilizations fall. I remember that one, it was the second one I saw and recall liking the term "technocornucopians".

You know what is really funny? If you divide the total world reserves of lithium (14 million tons: 14000000000kg) by 63kg, which is the amount in a Tesla battery, the result is 222222222.22222...222.

Besides the nudge to stuckness and binaries it is barely enough for one sixth of the motor vehicles in circulation today. The batteries of Teslas last about 20-37 years, it seems that is the amount of time in the future it takes for hope to turn into mass delusion.
