Open (More or Less) Post on Covid 171

...One can dream, at any rate. Update 11/15/24: As the pedes like to say, "Don't let your memes be dreams!" We are now in the fourth year of these open posts. When I first posted a tentative hypothesis on the course of the Covid phenomenon, I had no idea that discussion on the subject would still be necessary more than three years later, much less that it would turn into so lively, complex, and troubling a conversation. Still, here we are. Crude death rates and other measures of collapsing public health are anomalously high in many countries, but nobody in authority wants to talk about the inadequately tested experimental Covid injections that are the most likely cause;
So it's time for another open post. The rules are the same as before:
1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry and its government enablers are causing injury and death on a massive scale. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.
2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its wholly owned politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.
3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue.
4. If you plan on making off topic comments, please go away. This is an open post for discussion of the Covid epidemic, the vaccines, drugs, policies, and other measures that supposedly treat it, and other topics directly relevant to those things. It is not a place for general discussion of unrelated topics. Nor is it a place to ask for medical advice; giving such advice, unless you're a licensed health care provider, legally counts as practicing medicine without a license and is a crime in the US. Don't even go there.
5. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. Also, please don't drag in current quarrels about sex, race, religions, etc. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.
Please also note that nothing posted here should be construed as medical advice, which neither I nor the commentariat (excepting those who are licensed medical providers) are qualified to give. Please take your medical questions to the licensed professional provider of your choice.
With that said, the floor is open for discussion.

Yesterday Col. McGregor talked with Judge Napolitano. He stated that Trump seems to think that he inherits the same country he left 4 years ago and that they don't realize how much things have worsened. The US has no clout any more internationally and a big economic collapse is looming. Spending will continue to be out of control while the Israel hawks won't put anything in the way of Netanyahu. But he was positive about health and borderprotection. The judge seemed a bit taken aback by this sober if realistic viewpoint, but the Col's assessment seems mostly right imo.
I guess Trump will do better than any Obama 4 administration but the trajectory of the West won't and probably cannot be changed in a significant way. Time will tell...

Date: 2024-11-13 09:03 pm (UTC)IMO we didn't have any good options, just bad and less-bad. Maybe a few bones tossed our way is the best we can hope for. Since I didn't have high expectations to begin with-- Trump is certainly not going to save us from our economic woes (I don't think anything human can)-- I'm OK with that.
For the rest... we'll see.
I don't like the incoming tech elite any better than the senile old-money elite, and I don't believe any of them are all that interested in we the people.
As always, pray, exercise thrift, learn how to fix things, and invest in your local, in-person communities and social networks. Who will help you when you're broke, is, and always will be, more important than who is president.

what they got control of but it was something that got them grinning. I don't think it was fifteen minute shifts at McDonalds.
I watched myself reacting during all of this to hyper partisan news items. And because I was looking for change it was Trump stuff.
I didn't exactly get invested but I was watching carefully how I was being jerked around like a marionette.

Date: 2024-11-13 09:52 pm (UTC)I had some time to take a closer look at the nominees. I'm actually a bit shocked. The nominees are all neocon dead-enders. I would summarize their attitude as "Just keep escalating till you win"
They are all strong supporters of war against Iran so that seems to be on the menu. Many seem also very hawkish on China. I think Trump believes he can achieve a detente with Russia so the USA can turn against China. Well, he will soon find out that ship has sailed years ago. To make matters worse, some nominees simply look not qualified for the job even if we forget about the agenda. The new Defense Sec. looks like a lunatic to be honest.
Trump seems to have learned nothing since his previous term. Or his hand was forced. He took money from interests that really want that war with Iran (like the lady that contributed 100 million dollar) so he must deliver. And perhaps he got some backchannel message from the enablers of the assasination attempt. Who knows... Perhaps he will improve some things domestically but when it comes to foreign policy it looks bleak.

Date: 2024-11-14 12:26 am (UTC)Larry Johnson today wrote a piece basically saying, wait and see. Some of his picks are definitely disappointing neocon hawks. But his pick for Sec of Defense does not come from the giant defense bureaucracy, which indicates Trump is aiming to get loyal people in positions of power, ones who can, we must hope, bring some real change. Appointing Tulsi is a big positive indicator. War only as an absolute last resort is her position.
Cautious optimism remains the order of my day. Inevitably some of the people who've worked in these agencies and this have experience, will seem disappointing. Yet some experience, knowledge of where the bodies are buried, is needed. So far I see signs that Trump learned important lessons from his first term.
If RFK gets HHS, I will do a little dance and, uncharacteristically, smile broadly.

Date: 2024-11-14 10:18 pm (UTC)Interesting to hear Napolitano and MacGregor say that they'd rather see the Dept of Homeland Security disbanded in keeping with Trump's stated claim that he'd like to shrink the gov. He appointed North Dakota governor Noem as head, though. Yet, it'd be wise to not show his hand too soon - appoint a head, then close it down.
But I admit, I'm easily hopeful.

I read that muskrats are not closely related to beavers so perhaps Elon and the beaver moon is just coincidence.
