The picture? I'm working my way through photos of my lineage, focusing on the teachers whose work has influenced me. Before Sandra Tabatha Cicero, last week's honoree, became head of the Societas Rosicruciana in America, it had two heads, Lucia Grosch and Maria Babwahsingh, who functioned mostly in a caretaking capacity. Before them, the head of the order was Mother Serena, shown in the picture. Her real name was Gladys Plummer, and she was the wife of SRIA cofounder George Winslow Plummer; I have not been able to trace down many biographical details of hers, but she was much younger than her first husband. After his death, she and Stanislaus Witowski headed the order; they married, and she outlived him as well. Her "Lettergrams" and some of her essays are still available from the SRIA bookshop; they show her to be a perceptive mystic and occultist.

I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use either of the links above to access my online tip jar; Buymeacoffee is good for small tips, Ko-Fi is better for larger ones. (I used to use PayPal but they developed an allergy to free speech, so I've developed an allergy to them.) Date: 2022-12-12 08:12 pm (UTC)It doesn't have to be (microwave-scale) regular electromagnetic fields you're building a resonator or waveguide or what-have-you for. Ordinary electromagnetic fields don't seem to have enough metaphorical stable degrees of freedom per point in space to work like what everyone says etheric fields work like. Trying to analyze etheric phenomena as if they were simple electromagnetic phenomena might be as impossible as trying to analyze chemical phenomena as if the only kind of matter that existed was hydrogen. (Maybe that's something you could partly do with a very contorted and fine-tuned effective field theory, where heavier elements were considered to be fortuitously stably mashed-together hydrogen atoms, but it would be better not to try.)
On the subject: I recently came across a sort of experimental mathematics project called "Lenia" (from Latin lenis, “smooth”) that's at the intersection of artificial life and soliton theory. It's an investigation of continuum generalizations of the curious sometimes ambulatory persistent patterns found in the Game of Life and other cellular automata. The shapes that the investigator, Bert Wang-Chak Chan, found, resemble the shapes I vaguely imagine etheric entities to have when they aren't really prioritizing spatial structure, even if the resemblance would be only very loose and qualitative. (All the patterns in Lenia are altered by its presupposition of a spatial frame of reference, which is an assumption that seems unlikely to generalize.) Chan is a little bit loose with terminology when he calls them "life-forms" since the space of variants on a given pattern is very small and so evolution isn't really an option.
