Weird of Hali: Innsmouth out in trade paper

And another one! This isn't exactly new, but the first volume of my seven-volume epic fantasy with tentacles, The Weird of Hali, has just become available in trade paperback format, after more than a year in fine hardback:



It's currently available on Amazon here, and will be on its way through the usual distribution channels shortly. I'm delighted, to say the least.

Meanwhile book 5, The Weird of Hali: Providence, is in final edits, and book 6, The Weird of Hali: Hyperborea, is 90% finished in draft. The saga slithers rugosely to its conclusion... ;-)

Just finished Kingsport, another great book. I especially liked the chapter "the taters of the king."

Very timely indeed, JMG.

A recent Kickstarter campaign funded the publication of a new Lovecraftian role-playing game, where the players are the cultists. (Even S.T. Joshi is marginally involved in it!)

If the game is successful there might be more appetite in the future for fiction like yours, and paperback versions will be most definitely welcome in the RPG community.

Hmm! I had no idea. Still, you're right that it's in the air; about the time I finished writing Innsmouth, I heard about Ruthanna Emrys' novella The Litany of Earth, which is told from the point of view of one of the Innsmouth people who were sent to US concentration camps after the events of Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth." (I haven't read Emrys' story -- I've kept my distance from pretty much all post-Weird Tales mythos fiction while writing The Weird of Hali, but hers is one of the pieces I'm most eager to read once the whole sequence is done.)

The game sounds fun. Back in the day, there was a Tunnels and Trolls RPG expansion pack called Monsters! Monsters!, where the players were monsters creeping stealthily out of underground tunnels to dare the horrors of...a human village. It was a blast to play.

I had not come across "The Litany of Earth", it sounds interesting. Thanks for the tip! However, now I have your same problem: read Litany first, or wait until the end of The Weird of Hali story? :-)

Oh, I'd encourage you to go ahead and read Emrys' story, and the novel that's its sequel, Winter Tide. In my experience, at least, it's a lot easier to jump between one story and another when you're not writing either one... ;-)
