The pandemic has been scrubbed from the front pages at this point and replaced by a different hysteria du jour, but the semi-open posts  I've hosted here on the Covid-19 narrative, the inadequately tested experimental drugs for it, and the whole cascading mess surrounding them have continued to field a steady stream of comments, so I'm opening yet another space for discussion. The rules are the same as before: 

1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.

2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here. 
 
3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue. 

4. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules. 

With that said, as people who've had the vaccines catch Covid at a much higher rate than the unvaccinated, and people keep dropping dead from "unrelated" causes after they get their boosters, the floor is open for discussion.

I am touring the southern States and considering permanently re-patriating to the US from Canada where I've lived for 20 years. One big obstacle: I want to adopt an Ecosophian, crash-friendly existence, channeling Johnny Appleseed and pursuing Tamanous-- but USCIS requires proof of a stable and significant income to sponsor my Canadian family.

There are lots of jobs available right now, but most are soul-destroying to one degree or another. If you'll allow me, JMG, I'd like to solicit the community for ideas. Consider other aspects of soul destroying jobs, specifically the region, cultural vitality, location near navigable water, economic prospects as far as you can determine. Then take the best compromise solution. Possibly they will even give you a signing bonus. Plan on putting up with it for a year or two, until the family is settled and the paperwork is done. Then do something else.

Almost nobody will pay a nice comfortable income for fringe activities.

Variant update with GVB in mind

Lots of talk in last week's post off the back of Geert Vanden Bossch's latest predictive essay. Looking like the 'quick' adaptation he foresees with the virus is happening, though how impactful it'll be remains to be seen. However, regards at least the XE updated virus, supposed 'experts' have said there's nothing to be concerned about, so we'd probably best keep an eye on it.

The two changes gaining the most traction appear to be BA 2 with a twist courtesy of the L452R mutation seen on earlier iterations of Sars CoV-2 and XE - not a new Musk spaceship but don't ask me why we've suddenly gone sci-fi. They have been spotted in South Africa and the UK, but then they're looking out for these changes, so not as suggestive they started in those countries as you might think.

which is mentioning a more deadly variant in Hong Kong (see link to his original article about Hong Kong at the top).

Several caveats, though:

1. I honestly can‘t see how this new variant is taking over in Australia - at least not from the chart in this article. Maybe he had other data on which this claim is based. So I‘m taking his „it‘s poised to take over Australia“ with a huge grain of salt.

2. I also didn‘t check his Hong Kong data for myself, neither on this article nor on the original one from a few weeks ago. So his stats or numbers could well be wrong, please check for yourself.

3. Igor‘s underlying assumption about what is causing more severe cases and more deaths is different from Geert vanden Bossche‘s assumption, at least as far as I understand. He thinks „Chronic Covid“ (aka chronic, but somewhat hidden infection) is the main culprit.

4. And finally (but this is an issue with all the „numbers“ we get from anywhere…) I don‘t trust any of the „numbers“ anymore. There has been too much muddying the waters, and too many things going on to make any numbers trustworthy. So again, a huge shaker of salt.

However, what he wrote about the Hong Kong deaths didn‘t look good at the time, so I decided to post the link here, since it relates to the point at hand (new variant and all that). Maybe it helps other people to get a more complete picture.

I just looked at coronavirus "new case" and "death" statistics for both my home state of Wisconsin and also the country as a whole, and it would appear that both are either back at or getting close to returning as of Monday, April 4, to the relatively low levels they were at prior to the Delta strain getting everybody's knickers in a rather hysterical Covidian twist. --Mister Nobody

JMG - I think you said several months ago that a clairvoyant you know foresaw a very specific violent event aimed at one or more covid tyrants in late spring. Am I remembering that right? At this point, do you think that is likely to happen? It seems like anger and frustration is high, but does the sudden back down and removal of covid from the mainstream narrative potentially diffuse violence?

Not JMG obviously but my general take is that emotions are a lot like hydraulics, in that all that pressure has to go somewhere. It’s constantly looking for the weak link in the system.

From my own lived experience, you’ll find yourself having a high speed come apart at a bank teller who has no idea your going through an awful break up.

Frankly, I'd very much like to see statistical - rather than anecdotal - evidence for both of the claims in (4).

I presume you understand the way that works. Every day, some people drop dead. Every day, some people get covid boosters. With large numbers, some will be in both categories, more in only one category, and even more in neither (no booster today, and no death either). So simply finding someone in both categories proves little or nothing.

There are complicated statistical tests which, given all the numbers, can determine how likely it is that the events are related (too many people in both categories, beyond random chance). I used to understand those well enough to explain them, but today I'm not even going to try, pre-coffee and years out of college.

That being said I think it's wrong to present math and science as magis that only "experts" can understand.
My long experience with well-credentialed people is to distrust them the moment they say they know something but it's too difficult to explain to the rest of us.

If you want to know the effect of foxes, there are many simple ways to use arithmetic to validate that with a high degree of confidence.
One is to compare mortality by age in the same country over the last 5 or 10 years.
We know that some years have been null-hypothesis, others had covid and others had covid and the fox.
Actually in Australia and maybe other places we had fox and then covid.

What are the trends?
Did mortality increase during Covid?
Answer: most of the world NO. Case in point Africa.
Did mortality increase after foxes?
Answer: some of the world YES. Exceptions (like parts of Europe) suggest we need more data.

Another way is to put people in 2 groups: foxed and unfoxed (following the reality not the government's insane lies). Group them by age so we compare like with like and see what are the mortality rates.

Here is a good example: mortality in the US armed forces increased 11X (1100%) after the foxes (see DMED). That is so far out of the ordinary that the correlation here is 99.9999% causation.

I could go on but my point is very simple: a 10 year old can do the right math. There is no reason to shortsell ourselves or look up to some experts in order to understand big numbers.

I think I have mentioned several times that I have been slowly developing a personal critique of evidence based medicine, which, while not the least bit good at helping doctors to answer the question of what to do for this patient, with this condition, at this time, has somehow become so politically and bureaucratically favoured as to prevent doctors going back to older, more traditional ways of approaching that central, clinical question. EBM has become the obstacle stuck between a rock and a hard place, that prevents medicine from DOing medicine.

I just want to mention, for any medical/science philosophers/historians out there, that I have just found a 2011 paper which touches on some (but by no means all) of my criticisms which and may be of interest. The abstract link provides further links to the free, non-paywalled, pdf for anyone interested. I'd be interested in other folks' take on this.

Thanks for the link. Your personal critique seems worth considering. I've also been developing a similar heuristic for science, to sniff out when scientism is trying to pass as science. What I've come up with is unusual, but the first big tell I have is the presence of a sense of humor. I know it seems like it shouldn't apply, but if the person presenting or discussing the science has a sense of humor, I've found the Venn diagram overlap with "I can probably trust this person" is very high. The stand out example of this through covid, for me, has been Heather Heying and Bret Weinstein. Their podcasts inevitably start with witty puns, banter, and repartee. That shows to me that their minds are nimble, they are engaged with the world, they can connect various ideas in novel ways, and they are shape rotators AND wordcels (which obviously is a highly potent combination for science). If someone passes this test for me, they get through the first filter. Then I will listen to their data. It's a big timesaver.

Based on data as it continues to become available, Geert Vanden Bossche feels that that there is a strong probability that ADE may manifest soon (maybe even weeks) with the upcoming virus mutations.

And that a mass chemo-prophylactic campaign (unlikely to occur) is yet a way out for the vaccinated.

Yes, it's anecdotal, but the view from my cubicle is:

My dad - died before his second shot.
Cubicle co-worker - ill for a week with migraine and mysterious body aches after her (second?) booster. OK now.
Co-worker's vaxxed brother - had a stroke, now permanently confined to a nursing home.
Vaxxed co-worker and her vaxxed children - all caught Covid, all tested positive, all quite seriously ill. So far she's been off work for two weeks, pretty ill, and now has a nasty sinus and ear infection. Really worth getting those shots.

Me - despite some nasty comments from co-workers about the "risk" I pose to them - ha! Caught covid, took some worm tablets to slow viral replication, never tested positive so never had to isolate, over it in a couple of days, coughed for a couple of weeks after. Now observing all the vixenated illness around me. But hey, I'm the risk here.

Howdy JMG,

The image you selected for this week illustrates how I feel about the situation-- that this is a moment of calm, clarity, and rest, and with a little more companionship, too. However, there's still a long way to go.

This week finds me in the midst of working out a move to a more amenable city, and investing in acquiring some new, highly practical, skills.

Last week, I received news of a colleague in the ICU with heart issues and of a relative with a dreadful outbreak of some skin rash -- both are double jabbed and boosted. Were their health problems jab-related? Of course, I do not know, but I suspect as much.

Strangely, throughout this covidian catastrophe, ever since the winter of 2020, and especially since this forum began late last summer, I have felt as if the whole situation is somehow stuck in cement-- and yet, it's not stuck, for each week or so, consistently, there has been some important or even dramatic development.

This crazy show's not over.

Farmers are used to administering antibiotics without a prescription. Perhaps the large animal vet can zoom with the cow. Otherwise, the cost of a vet visit to the middle of nowhere might change the math on whether she becomes remains a milker or hamburger.

If they do continue to stock those products, customers will have to show a prescription prior to purchasing them.

Curiously, deworming products are not covered...

Products unaffected by the change include ionophores; antiparaciticides; injectable and oral nutritional supplements; oral pro/prebiotics; and topical non-antibiotic treatments. These products will continue to remain available through standard OTC marketing channels.

I’m completing a year long course where we meet live on Zoom once a month (the rest is asynchronous). Well at last weeks meeting the five people I know are vaxxed and boosted because they bragged about it now all have faces like beach balls. I don’t know if I just noticed it or it’s come on this suddenly, but it was hard to not stare. Isn’t that kind of face swelling a sign of failed kidneys?

I had something frightening happen last week. My kid and I were going into a local store and a man with a mask very tight to his face said hello to me by name as he was walking out. I looked at him and noticed he had a very swollen face - so much so that the mask appeared to be pasted on tight. I didn't recognize him and simply said "Hello". Once in the store, my kid said, "Gee "D" had his mask on tight!".

I was aghast as I've known "D" for over 40 years and I swear I did not recognize him.

His is not the first face I've noticed that is swollen these days. Very scary!

at work, James rents bicycles at the marina, and he has a homeless paranoid guy who used to be in corporate deep state and is now convinced everyone's out to get him. so he gives James broken jewelry he finds in the world and i'm going to try and find a way to sew it into or onto things to give these errant diamonds and gold chains new life.

I catch the local news now and then mainly for the weather report and usually have the sound off for most of it or switch channels while they are glorping on about somehthing I don't care to know. Lately it is so odd that not one single mention of the DISEASE has been made. They seem to be filling up the vast vacancy with a lot of silly non-news. I guess the habit of whipping up a lot of pure nothing into an imaginary something of totally false simulation of importance is a habit they just can't kick.

This is the big divide now - the news coverage. The Philly Inquirer ran an article last week about the devastation in Mifflin County, PA due to covid. So I hopped over to the Lewisburg Chronicle which is the county newspaper. Not one mention of covid anywhere on the website homepage. Not a tracker, an article, a link, a menu item. So if covid was so devastating there, don't you think they'd mention it? But to the posh readers of the Inquirer who would never set foot in Mifflin County (too deplorable!) they can imagine a world where the big bad covid wiped them all out.

Well, there are still mask-wearers a-plenty to be seen.

I thought of something which gave me a glimmer of sympathy for people still wearing masks, which is, that from their point of view, maybe they have a subconscious fear that this pox is unstoppable.

Think about it: piecing together what the Authorities are telling them with what they see on the ground, they see that they were promised a magical foxx that will end the pox - and yet, it isn't working. It clearly doesn't work, as even treble and quadruply-foxxed individuals are catching the pox.

So instead of putting two and two together like we do and concluding that the foxx doesn't work (and may even make things worse), they begin to think with horror, "Gee, I guess this is a superbug, even the foxx can't halt its relentless advance!" And for once, they are actually not wrong.

So if you think about it this way, I guess I can see why some people are still desperate for anything that might slow down the pox even a little.

I've been telling myself that these unfortunate people have been terrorized by their public health departments and the media for more than 2 years. Even as the mandates are being lifted the message is unchanged: be afraid; you are a danger to others; others are a danger to you.
TPTB have still not come clean and owned up to the fact that the whole thing was a horrific farce. Understandably many people are still enthralled. So sad.
