Once again, it's technically Monday now -- past midnight Eastern time -- and here I am on Dreamwidth, so it's time for another Magic Monday.  Ask me anything about occultism and I'll do my best to answer it. Any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer, though it may be Tuesday sometime before I get to them all.

Empaths

Dear Mr. Greer,
I am wondering if empaths can feel a selection of random people's emotions or if they mainly pick up other empaths?

I have an empathic friend that I pick up very clearly and I recently shared a mental image with another empath, quite by accident. I have another friend who is a powerful empath and I rarely get anything from her. I have no ability to decide when such things happen. They seem to happen on a logic of their own.

By all accounts, all the psychic gifts -- and empathy is one of those -- have a very strong personal element. What works for one person doesn't work for another, and may not work for the same person twice in the same way! Thus your best bet is to pay close attention to your own experiences, and see what you can learn from them about the specific characteristics of your own gift.
