The photo? One of my readers mentioned a little while back that a namesake of mine was a R&B saxophonist back in the 1940s and 1950s. I decided to check him out, and here he is in all his musical glory. Check out one of his tunes here. As far as I know, he's not a relative, though you never know -- there's been far more interracial marriage in American history, to say nothing of less formal interactions, than anybody likes to admit in these polarized times. If he does turn out to be a distant cousin I won't be unhappy. 

(If Big John Greer was an occultist, that fact didn't make it into his online bios, but of course it's always possible -- between hoodoo on one end of the African-American community, and a plethora of urban magical lodges on the other end, there was no shortage of black American occultism when his career was rolling...)

What’s your take on the popularity of “Let’s Go Brandon” cheers and songs? I live in Red State and work for a very red company. The resident NASCAR fans tell me Brandon Brown’s statistics are less than noteworthy, but they also think that adds to the hilarity. Also, I’ve noticed politically unaware music fans are being drawn in by patriotic counterculture acts like Hi-Rez & Jimmy Levy. (Give “This Is A War” a listen.) Apparently, the counterculture cool of protest music no longer belongs to the left. I can report that something is moving, but your view is probably better than mine.

The hapless media flack who said that probably had no idea that he'd just handed the deplorables a very potent spell. The deplorables themselves seem to have figured that out very quickly, and they're using it with great efficiency. It's become the auditory equivalent of a hypersigil -- a symbolic pattern that gathers and concentrates energy toward a specific intention, which might best be phrased as, shall we say, "Jab Joe Biden." The way things are going, he's going to get well and truly jabbed, too.

This is the kind of thing you see in the months before a revolution. Hang onto your hat.

So... ya think there might be something to even CNN covering the pushy-shovey between the POTUS and the VP?

I hadn't heard of this. CNN is in deep trouble anyway -- their October ratings were a disaster, with not one program attracting a million viewers -- and word is that their new owner, Warner, is going to bring down the axe on a lot of their talking heads. So they may be desperately trying to reassert their relevance by actually, you know, reporting on some news for a change.

Oh dear gods. Is there any way to tell how badly this will go?

Nope. It depends, among other things, on just how bad the long term side effects of the Covid vaccines turn out to be; a lot of people in the populist Right have shelved plans for a rebellion, because they think there's a fair chance they can just sit back and let their opponents get sick and die of vaccine-enhanced illnesses. (Given what you can see by putting the phrase "died suddenly" into your favorite search engine, they may not be wrong.)

The Aries ingress chart for 2022 is a nasty looking one. Uranus in Taurus in mutual reception with Venus in Aquarius. Venus and Mars are in conjunction, squaring Uranus. The thing which really caught my eye, however, is that in Washington the chart is ruled by Mercury since the ascendant falls in Gemini; and Mercury is in Pisces in the tenth, sharing the house with the Sun, Neptune, and Jupiter.

All in all, it's a very interesting chart, and to my eyes at least it looks like one that indicates a massive change in government.

Hmm! I'm currently working out the Capricorn ingresses, so hadn't gotten to that. Uranus given dignity by mutual reception is a very favorable sign -- he's been in ghastly condition for chart after chart -- but yes, that could mean a sudden change, very much for the better.

The interesting thing is, that that mutual reception between Uranus and Venus will happen worldwide; but it will be in different houses depending on the country for which an ingress chart is drawn.

Straying a little off topic but have you noticed the 'spark' in the protests against the recent madness? The 'Let's go Brandon' sort of epitomises it the humour of it.

I'm a long way away from the US, watching from NZ, but even here there is a verve and energy to what is happening that I have never ever seen before. The protests are colourful and vibrant - it is both unnerving because this is not left vs right, it is something wholly different - and almost, dare I say, exciting.

I don't think the politicians worldwide have any idea at all what is coming.

Any comments on the "I did that!" stickers popping up on fuel pumps all over the place?

I haven't been within sight of a fuel pump in decades. Can you link me to something discussing this?

Deplorable, is just another word for hated. Any idea when the hatred will peak and start to subside?

Nah, "deplorable" is much more than that. Once Hillary Clinton used it, it got adopted with great enthusiasm by the people she detests; I've seen women in t-shirts saying "Adorable Deplorable" and guys in t-shirts saying "I Was Deplorable Before It Was Cool." As for the hatred Clinton and her class direct toward the people they've driven into poverty and misery, it'll last as long as they do. Many decades from now, when the rubble has long since stopped bouncing, you'll be able to find American emigré communities overseas -- probably in Europe and New Zealand, but we'll see -- full of people who go on by the hour about how wonderful life was when they still ran things in the US, and spewing hatred at the people who replaced them in the seats of power.

I'm always pleased when I find out that I've been practicing magic without quite realizing it. "Let's go Brandon" has become a sort of daily mantra for me. I'm curious, though. In jabbing the Jabber-in-Chief in this manner, are there any risks to the individuals (or groups) doing it, and could it also adversely affect the nation at large?

That depends very much on the direction the groupmind forming around that phrase goes in the years immediately ahead. You're contributing to that groupmind and also making yourself a part of it, and so you'll share in its karma for good and ill. If the collapse of the current regime and its replacement by something better can be carried out without violence -- and Eastern Europe in 1989 reminds us that this can happen -- my guess is that it won't be problematic at all.

The Biden admin and media have tried to mitigate this in part by claiming that Brandon is a nickname for Biden and making it out to be a cheer for him. I wonder how this memetic sleight of hand will play out.

Since "Let's Go Brandon" was born of just such a bit of hamfisted dishonesty, I doubt it will benefit the current administration any.

Well, the rift between Brand Brandon and Camp Kamala is swiftly widening into a chasm as according to this article https://www.rt.com/usa/540360-kamala-biden-clash-power-titanic/ the latter now refers to the former as “the Titanic”. So I’ll fetch the popcorn and then we can all settle in for the Big Bang Brandon Grand Finale, it promises to be quite the show.

A friend of mine has started to refer to Biden as "Uncle JoJo," since he's battered and fried...

Maybe a coincidence, but RIA Novosti, a Russian news agency, made a funny typo in a headline.

It read: Yeltsin and Biden might meet early next year.



Yeltsin, former president of Russia, died in 2007, so draw your own conclusions.

They quickly corrected the headline to Putin and Biden might meet early next year, but still...

Hah! If that was an accident, it was inspired -- and if not, it's one of the best examples of classic Russian humor I've seen in a while...

Data point: Around the modestly-sized town where I live, you'll see the occasional homeless person with a hand-written cardboard sign, begging for money/food. Usually the signs say things like "HOMELESS - HUNGRY - PLEASE HELP" or "HOMELESS VETERAN - GOD BLESS". Over the weekend, I saw a guy by the freeway offramp whose sign read "LETS GO BRANDON - ANYTHING HELPS." This thing is getting a *lot* of traction.
