Ah, the Aetherius Society! I didn't know that it was still around. Yes, it's one of the more interesting of the UFO-themed new religions -- like most of them, a revamped Theosophy with flying saucers added for local color. I'm glad they survived the death of their founder -- always a challenge for a new religious movement; they have a good reputation -- even the nastiest of the skeptic sites have no accusations of bad behavior on their part -- and who knows? They might become Europe's next great religion in another thousand years or so.

Yeah, they seemed like a very interesting group. I like pilgrimages & I like aetheric prayer batteries, so they have a vote from me. "Weird" and "Strange" are almost always positive descriptors in my book.

I got my copy of The Doctrine & Ritual of High Magic. I've read the intro and a bit of the first chapter (I couldn't help it). Suffice to say, I'm very excited about digging deep into the book with you and the Ecosophia community.

Wouldn't the Long Descent be a problem for UFO based religions? Of course, I can see people waiting for the extraterrestrials just like people wait for the Second Coming, but who knows.

It's a bit weird, moments ago I was discussing the possibility of survival of Scientology in the far future. One of those synchronicities, I guess.

Oh, it'll be easy enough for them to find a suitable dodge, and First Contact is close enough to the Second Coming that that's certainly one way they could do it.
