creation of the worldIt's getting on for midnight, so we can proceed with a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism and I'll do my best to answer it. Any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. (Any question received after then will not get an answer, and will likely just be deleted.) If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 143,916th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.0 of The Magic Monday FAQ here.

I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use the button above to access my online tip jar. If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page here and my SubscribeStar page here.

Bookshop logoI've also had quite a few people over the years ask me where they should buy my books, and here's the answer. Bookshop.org is an alternative online bookstore that supports local bookstores and authors, which a certain other gargantuan corporation doesn't, and I now have a shop there, which you can check out here. Please consider patronizing it if you'd like to purchase any of my books online.

And don't forget to look up your Pangalactic New Age Soul Signature at CosmicOom.com.

With that said, have at it!

***This Magic Monday is now closed. See you next week!***

Interesting. I'm not very familiar with Nietzsche, but from what I do know of him and his writings, I was struck by the sharp contrast between how he acted in his mundane life and the tone he adopted in his writings. It always seemd to me that was indicative of some deep inner conflict.

To put it in the language of his three metamorphoses, the impression I got of him is that he longed to become the child but couldn't let go of the lion.

Hi JMG,

First, I would like to give you a big thanks for introducing me to the SOP and discursive meditation, which I have been doing daily for about three years now. These practices have helped me make a number of profound improvements in my life, most especially in my relationships. Thank you!

I am currently working my way through the Dolmen Arch, closing out the 2nd grade right now. I am really enjoying the DA coursework, and I believe it will give me all sorts of good results for spiritual development. My question is on the practical side--what magical practices would be best for improving my business and finding opportunities to earn more money?

Not the OP, but the problem is that the vaccines only provide partial immunity. In much the same way that bacteria evolve to resist antibiotics which are overused, an emphasis on immunity to a single protein will encourage the virus to evolve to find ways around that. Most people's immune responses are not based on a single protein, but on plenty of them, with some idiosyncratic variation thrown in just for fun as well. This makes it harder for the virus to get around the immune response than just using a vaccine.

Bedside Geometrics

You might try a bit of natural magic, including small bowls of vinegar and salt near the bed to interfere with any terrifying non-corporeal entities on the etheric plane. I have two videos on the subject:

To disrupt the entities on the astral plane, you might try a bedside geometric:

As someone who just finished crafting a set of simple tools for my own practice I will just say that if you don't do them yourself (or assemble them and make them your own in a way) you are loosing a fine bit of magical and will training. I also wouldn't want anyone else's energies unless I know them well in my practice and ritual space. Made by yourself really is better than fine craftmanship in my opinion!

Meeting magical people

Dear JMG and fellow readers,
I just had an interesting experience. a young lady came over to pick up a pair of hens and I ended up showing her my garden. I was telling her about my collection of magical plants. As soon as I mentioned magic, I started to get tingling sensations throughout my body as has happened before when talking about magic with other people who have had magical training. The tingling got really intense when I told her lilacs were good for exorcism. I stopped and asked if she was a magical person. She had been training as a Wiccan for 7 years. She was experiencing the tingling too.

This sort of thing only ever happens with people who are interested in magic rather than just nice people or religious people. Only magical people. My question is, does studying magic give people a different charge than non-trained people?

Just as a data-point. I have Pollacks 78-degrees and it is good but if you like her, don't miss out on The New Tarot Handbook which she wrote decades later and it shows. It is still a handbook but very nicely done.

That said, I've never used Tarot decks in the french style so I don't know if anything from there applies to it (Pollack's books both use the Smith-Waite and its accompanying symbolism)

Valuable? Maybe. Safe? No. Surely anyone who's been a fool in the name of compassion — and I am one — is going to recommend a touch of caution about flinging oneself wholeheartedly into a compassion practice, and double caution about goosing it up. If you're lucky, you only wind up giving more money to a beggar than you'd otherwise consider appropriate. If you're not lucky, you'll tangle with someone who is both vulnerable and exploitative/destructive, and you'll get a much more expensive lesson in "idiot compassion".

Medical geomancy again

Hi JMG,

I asked last week about medical geomancy for my daughter. As you recommended, I tried again asking the specific question ("Can we do or refrain from doing something to heal our daughter's symptoms?"). I assumed 1st house myself, 5th house our daughter, 7th house my wife (who's fittingly a doctor) and 10th house the symptom.

I received this chart:

The significators are very fitting to the characters of the persons mentioned but I'm not sure how to interpret the result. There's a conjunction between myself, my daughter and my wife so I assume it's me having to do something. Caput Draconis does a translation between myself and the symptoms. So I'll have to bring in someone or something else or start something new.

To make sure I asked if a doctor would be able to heal the symptoms, with the 7th house now standing for an external doctor. This resulted in this chart:

There's no perfection between 7 and 10 so I believe this is a "No". Does this sound plausible to you? Is there anything you might add to the interpretation or would you interpret it differently?

Thank you so much!

I'm not convinced by that argument. Mutations, like copying errors, are random. Most vaccinated people aren't going to get infected, so those who do will generate some variants, but fewer of them than if ten times as many people got infected and produced copies. If variant B is much more able to infect vaccinated people than variant A, then in a heavily vaccinated population variant B, and variants based on it, will become dominant. But how is that any worse than not vaccinating, and having everyone get sick with variant A? (It could be worse if variant B is also more virulent, but the opposite could just as easily be true.)

Second, all the emphasis is on production of antibodies to the protein because - or so I get the impression - that's what it's cheapest to test for, but the immune response to vaccines, like infections, apparently does also include production of T cells, which may go after cells that are infected even with variants that the antibodies don't recognize well.
