Watch wokesters in action and you'll see both of those. A Jungian might suggest that's why they're so hostile to the idea of biological gender...

Aren't the anima and animus opposite? Is this part of why the woke seem so contradictory?

They're not opposite, they're complementary. That's why two people who are fairly psychologically healthy can meet and marry, projecting anima and animus on each other but not doing so to a toxic degree, and still be happily married half a century later.

When it's a matter of anima and animus possession, though, you get the classic marriage made in Hell, where she's constantly ranting at him, he's constantly whining at her, they make each other totally miserable but can't do without each other. That's more or less the state of the wokester left these days.
