That's from Eliphas Lévi's The Doctrine and Ritual of High Magic, in case you were wondering -- and yes, Lévi used the word "android." (The word comes from Greek, androeides, "image of a man;" the feminine equivalent is gynoeides, and thus "gynoid" would be the word in English for a female robot. You're welcome.)

1) Very briefly, the diabetic personality is self-indulgent in a particular way, and -- yes, I know, it sounds like a pun -- rather sweet; the multiple sclerosis personality is the kind that will ring the call bell fifteen times in an eight hour shift because the patient wants you to adjust the position of some little item on the nightstand, which the patient could adjust herself. It's weakness and constant requests for help as a means of feeling in control.

2) If you know somebody's rising degree, you can construct certain kinds of magical workings to direct misfortune, sickness, and trouble at them. You can counter that by regular banishing rituals, and by knowing enough astrological magic to do workings of your own to direct good luck, health, and happiness toward yourself.

3) That's pretty much how I would do it.

Thank you for your replies! With respect to 1), my thought is that these personality/temperamental risk factors could be something to look for in natal charts.
