Jung goes for bloodIt's midnight and so it's time to launch a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism, and with certain exceptions noted below, any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. Please note:  Any question or comment received after that point will not get an answer, and in fact will not be put through.  If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 341,928th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.3 of The Magic Monday FAQ here

Also:
I will not be putting through or answering any more questions about practicing magic around children. I've answered those in simple declarative sentences in the FAQ. If you read the FAQ and don't think your question has been answered, read it again. If that doesn't help, consider remedial reading classes; yes, it really is as simple and straightforward as the FAQ says.  And further:  I've decided that questions about getting goodies from spirits are also permanently off topic here. The point of occultism is to develop your own capacities, not to try to bully or wheedle other beings into doing things for you. I've discussed this in a post on my blog.

(The quote? I've finished the sequence of my published books; while I decide what I want to do next, I have some memes to share.)

Buy Me A Coffee

Ko-Fi

I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use either of the links above to access my online tip jar; Buymeacoffee is good for small tips, Ko-Fi is better for larger ones. (I used to use PayPal but they developed an allergy to free speech, so I've developed an allergy to them.) If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page here and my SubscribeStar page here

Bookshop logoI've also had quite a few people over the years ask me where they should buy my books, and here's the answer. Bookshop.org is an alternative online bookstore that supports local bookstores and authors, which a certain gargantuan corporation doesn't, and I have a shop there, which you can check out here. Please consider patronizing it if you'd like to purchase any of my books online.

With that said, have at it!

Geomantic House Significance

Hi JMG, I've been going through meditations on the geomantic correspondences and I had a question. Is there any indication in the literature you've read of reasons for the house correspondences of the figures? Is it just a matter of copying the house correspondences of their corresponding star signs, moving through the houses in order or is there a pattern apart from that? I'm starting to see a meaningful pattern emerging from the house correspondences of the figures and I'm wondering if anyone else has seen it. If you can answer first I'll tell you the pattern I'm seeing. Thanks.

Here's what I'm seeing in the house correspondences. The figures and their houses trace out the familiar narrative of the hero's journey.

Puer is the protagonist figure projected onto the querent (strong first house) as the central personage in the reading. A legendary hero often begins their journey lacking many social ties (weak seventh house), and may be an orphan or outsider in the setting.

Amissio represents misfortune befalling the hero. Something causes them to lose their home and/or possessions (strong second house) but escape with their life (weak eighth house). This loss may be their call to adventure.

Albus is a mentor who journeys with the hero for a time and teaches them (strong third house) but who cannot accompany the hero the entire way (weak ninth house).

Populus is a town where the hero's never been (string fourth house) or another crowded place where the hero's journey leads. As an outsider here they are of low social status (weak tenth house).

In the example of Star Wars, Puer is Luke Skywalker, Amissio is the death of his aunt and uncle and the destruction of his home, Albus is Obi-Wan Kenobi and Populus is Mos Eisley.

I'm still working through meditations on each correspondence so this is far as I've gotten, I don't want to skip ahead for the sake of discipline in fully exploring each figure in due time. Still, just from looking at the series of figures it's clear that the Cauda/Caput Draconis pair would represent the climax of the story. What do you think of this interpretation? I don't see the hero's journey pattern being applicable to the zodiac signs in the same way, they don't evoke the same kind of specific narrative archetypes to me.

Since JMG so kindly shared the Appalachian charm to stop bleeding, based on Ezekiel 16:6, with all his female readers, I'm returning the favor to any of the men here who are interested in receiving the tradition. Instructions are found here:

I'm planning a move to get away from certain issues in my life, one of which is an extremely abusive family. They know I have something planned, but I've kept them from learning the details, and my mother in particular has been snooping around to try to figure out what I'm planning. I'm taking all the physical plane precautions I can to avoid revealing anything, but I think I might have another problem to contend with.

Friday night at around three am I woke up and saw a ghostly figure that looked like my mother, appearing to be rummaging through my things. My immediate instinct was to head over to her and then draw a banishing pentagram, which made her image disperse. Saturday, I found out that my mother had to cancel a planned brunch with my brother, because she was suddenly violently ill; naturally she blamed me for it, and so he felt the need to try to berate me for making her so stressed she got sick. She has blamed me for everything going wrong in her life for as long as I can remember, so my initial reaction was to hang up the phone and eye roll about it, but on further thought, I wonder if something actually happened.

a) This seems to me like she might have been projecting something into my space to snoop around on the inner planes, and when I hit her with the pentagram it injured her subtle body. Does this sound like a plausible read of the situation to you?

b) If this is what happened, what kind of information could she have gotten out of the attack? I'm not sure how long she was there before I woke up, nor do I know what else she might have done while I was sleeping.

c) I am working my way through LRM, and so I know my options are limited because I lack a lot of skill as of yet. I have put out a bowl of vinegar out, and moved everything I really don't want her to be able to look at into the room where I do my ritual work, because I figure the LBRP is likely to make it harder for her to manifest in the area. Are there other steps I can take to protect myself from this?

Hi JMG

I recently listened to two astrology podcasts that had points that I thought you'd find interesting if you weren't already aware of them.

The first was one by Chris Brennan from "the astrology podcast", who noted that events associated with oil seem to happen around saturn neptune conjunctions. From the beginning of the pennsylvania oil boom to Exon valdese oil spill. https://theastrologypodcast.com/2026/04/14/oil-crisis-astrology-mars-saturn-and-neptune/
I wonder if this may be used to help predict the timing of the steps of the long descent.

The second point was made by Dan Weights, on the "world astrology report" while discussing your book "The Twilight of Pluto". He connected it to the work of Rosie Finn and her book "Persephone's Revolution". She pointed out that Pluto seems to act more strongly when out of bounds. As it was between 1938 and 1953 in Leo, which apparently correlates with the rise of dictators. It's also out of bounds now (2025 to 2035) in aquarius, which apparently correlates with revolutions. But due to the procession of the equinoxes this is the last time it will be out of bounds for thousands of years. It's almost like it's trying to make a splash while it can.

You are much better qualified than I to judge these points, I hope the note proves useful.
Thanks
Sea Spray

About The Goat-Foot God - Is there a good way to sort Fortune's occult philosophy from the usual literary tropes that she's having fun skewering? The discussion of Mona's relationship with Hugh seems a bit like Yeats' complicated polarities in A Vision, while the stolen maid is a bit like the elemental servants she cautions against... Or - am I overthinking it?
