Magic Monday

Midnight is upon us and so it's time to launch a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism, and with certain exceptions noted below, any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. Please note:  Any question or comment received after that point will not get an answer, and in fact will just be deleted.  If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 341,928th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.3 of The Magic Monday FAQ here. 

Also: I will not be putting through or answering any more questions about practicing magic around children. I've answered those in simple declarative sentences in the FAQ. If you read the FAQ and don't think your question has been answered, read it again. If that doesn't help, consider remedial reading classes; yes, it really is as simple and straightforward as the FAQ says.  And further:  I've decided that questions about getting goodies from spirits are also permanently off topic here. The point of occultism is to develop your own capacities, not to try to bully or wheedle other beings into doing things for you. I've discussed this in a post on my blog.

The image? I field a lot of questions about my books these days, so I've decided to do little capsule summaries of them here, one per week.  This is my seventy-eighth published book and nineteenth novel, a stand-alone (so far) tale set in 2095 or so. You could call it cli-fi (the current cute label for climate change fiction) if you like, or deindustrial SF; I'd call it a deindustrial noir Shinto science fiction spy thriller with Gnostic overtones. Jerry Shimizu, the two-fisted, gun-toting, half-Japanese tough guy who narrates the story, and the world in which he lives are interesting enough, at least to me, that he may get a sequel...but we'll see.  If you're interested, you can get copies here in the US and here elsewhere.

I appreciate this comprehensive answer!

I realized that the alien swarm came here with some intention, but now I know the distinction between this, versus other spirits essentially glitching into human form. I also didn't realize that fairies & demons were capable of crossing over. I do recall your point about the souls of large animals coming into human form in periods of high population, which helps explain NPCs and groupthink, I just wasnt sure if that was the only mechanism.

As for demons, I remember seeing mugshots of serial killer types, and something about their eyes was very dark and disturbing. Demonic humans may help explain that, although that may not be the only reason.

I figured elementals were the most common case, but for those and other non-human types, that would explain why some people are on a different wavelength, or just lack certain human qualities.

But wait, as a follow-up: if they often don't live long, does that mean stillbirths, infant mortality, or unusual early deaths (not related to covid/vax) are sometimes the result of mismatched incarnations? Maybe the spirit wants to get out the human body it doesn't belong in?

Yes, it's quite likely that some percentage of very short-lived incarnations are a function of a soul that can't manage to remain in a human body. As for those killers with demonic eyes, some may be demons, but a good many more are obsessed or possessed by demons.

That makes alot of sense. Oh btw, during this whole Culture War madness, which caused me to significantly revise my views, part of that transition was following Styxhexenhammer666 on youtube (not sure if you're familiar). He had pretty solid red-pilled commentary, but ultimately I evolved past it, getting into thinkers on substack, including Curtis Yarvin. But the reason I bring this up is because he started venerating a demon, whose name is St**** (I don't like even saying their names, but that should be enough to go on), and it was around that time I mostly tuned out. Maybe I was instinctively avoiding the malign influence?

Please do avoid writing or speaking the names of demons. It's not a wise thing to do. I'm glad to hear that you bailed out at that point; the moral collapse that happens to people who start worshipping demons is pretty frightful, and makes them unsafe to be around.

Good to have my intuitions confirmed. Come to think of it, he got arrested for some domestic assault incident last year, among other shenanigans, so it all fits together.
Also, when writing that post, at first I put 3 letters, but something told me to reduce down to 2, which is also consistent.
