I was under the impression that ketamine was kind of lumped into the psychedelics as a theraputic, as a way to get beyond the defenses to address underlying problems like PTSD in a more analytical way, in combination with other therapies. Similar to the frankly miraculous seeming effects that MDMA (ecstasy) and talk therapy seem to have with PTSD in rape victims. But I don't follow that very closely.
