lying, not wrongWe are now winding up the third year of these open posts. As the phrase "died suddenly" repeats in the mass media like a mantra, statistics for work days lost to illness and all-cause mortality mount up in heavily vaccinated nations, and more and more ugly facts about the official response to Covid spill out into public, we are entering what may well turn out to be the most difficult period of the Covid disaster -- the phase in which denial rises in lockstep with the death rate, and a great many people try not to admit what has been done to them by the people and institutions they trusted. It could get ugly, folks.

So it's time for another open post. The rules are the same as before:

1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.

2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.

3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue.

4. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. Also, please don't drag in current quarrels about sex, race, religions, etc. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.

With that said, the floor is open for discussion.

Read the prayer but only just went back to read the introduction:

"As the druids lay in hiding, ready to kill, it is said that they saw not Patrick and his men, but a gentle doe followed by twenty fawns."

Druids! Who'd of thunk it. Early Dark Ages propaganda!?

"The miracle saved Patrick and his men."

Safe and effective then. ;)

But seriously, those words have something.
Would it be considered rude or in error to adjust it?

The first half of the thrid paragraph ("shield me ... with ... before ... behind ... in ... beneath ... above ... on my right ... on my left") is a Christian version of the SoP, more or less, which is probably a major reason why the Lorica has been such a widely used prayer all these many centuries.

Does anyone know if studies have been done on the effect on the immune system of visualisation and/or prayer?

I had to look up lorica.

Not being a Christian, I was still struck by the words; for personal use this came up:

Prayer to Life

Arise!
In gratitude and awe, by the grace and love of the Divine.
May the loving fire of the sun, purify and gently touch my heart,
May I act in harmony and the beauty and richness of the earth sustains me;
May the swiftness of the wind blow away my foolishness and clear my thinking
May the waters of the world cleanse and support me
As I swim in the ocean of Life,
And lead me,
To compassionate wisdom through the flowing aether.

Arise!
May the Grace of the Divine fortify me on the way;
Divine Compassion uphold me, Divine wisdom guide me,
May I see within as I look without
May I hear the stillness of peace as I listen to the world,
And feel a Divine hand, touch and point the way, lighting a path in truth,
May Divine Grace touch my heart, like the perfume of an opening rose,
That I find courage through humility and love of life,
To have self control and keep actions in balance and harmony
To be Just and true through right relationships with all beings and things
I call out to life, near and afar,
When alone or in a mulitude.

Arise!
May the Divine guide me today in feelings, thoughts and actions
The beauty, love and richness of the earth below,
The majesty, beauty and love of the Sun above
Love, compassion and mercy within me,
Love, compassion and mercy before me and behind me,
Love, compassion and mercy on my right and on my left,
Held in the hands of the Cosmos
May I swim true in the ocean of Divine light.

Arise!
May I know the Divine in the heart of everyone I think of,
May I know the Divine in everyone I speak of,
May I know the Divine in those I meet,
And then, to find, and follow the pure light path

Arise!
And give thanks for the gift of life.

"Safe and effective" Lol! ;)

I do think those words have power. (And the following version contains a fuller rendering - including the very specific invocation of protection against "the spells of women and smiths and wizards" https://silverbranchheritage.ie/lorica-of-st-patrick-or-the-deers-cry/ )

But I also have no doubt at all that prior to being written down, the words were adjusted a great deal. There are certainly some pre-Christian themes woven into it. For example, there are lots of similarities between these words:
"I arise today, Through the strength of heaven; Light of the sun, Splendor of fire, Speed of lightning, Swiftness of the wind, Depth of the sea, Stability of the earth, Firmness of the rock" and the "Song of Amergin" https://songofamergin.wordpress.com/2012/06/25/an-introduction-to-the-song-of-amergin/

So, I suppose you pays your money, and you takes your choice. ;)

Still, this formulation:
"Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left.." has a very SOP flavour to it, to my mind. Its spatial structure is what commends itself to me.

But I also have no doubt at all that prior to being written down, the words were adjusted a great deal.

Looking at those links I see what you mean.
Shifting meanings and usage over time likely compounds things too.

I am not sure specifically why it resonated - maybe right time, right place right circumstances etc. Perhaps it was the resonance of meaning encompassed in the whole thing rather than the specific phrasing and use of words. I do not have to understand the music or words of a Gregorian chant to feel the beauty; but I really don't know.

When I first read it, something about it had power... enough to inspire me to base something on it to use in my own practice. An unexpected and interesting surprise even if I am only getting a shimmer of a reflection of an intention - something seemingly wrapped in words but actually something more.

If I might butt in here with something uh 'not so much' covid related but

sort of if we consider we are fortifying ourselves with knowledge to better survive independently of the narrative:

What would you say the main difference is between Amergain and Taliesin?

I doubt anyone knows... bigotry and narrow-mindedness don't seem to mind temporal shifts.
From one of the links above:

...summon today all these powers between me and these evils
Against every cruel and merciless power that may oppose my body and my soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of heathenry,
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of women and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that endangers man’s body and soul.

A modern version could have been:
Against every cruel and merciless power that may oppose the ̶g̶r̶i̶f̶t̶ gift of pharma
Against heathens without masks,
Against heretics refusing the sacrament of injection
Against the craft of critical thinking
Against every knowledge that questions the science

thanks for your answer & interpretation. I have a hard time, btw, processing certain types of phrases, could you please explain the meaning of

bigotry and narrow-mindedness don't seem to mind temporal shifts.

thank you

Yeah sorry, that was maybe a bit of abstruse stream of consciousness!

I meant where bigotry is intolerance of others, and narrow mindedness is lacking a world view that extends or is willing/able to consider views outside of their own limited thinking, and with 'temporal shifts' I was thinking about travelling up and down the timeline of history only to find the same or similar behaviours and dysfunctions in humans occurring.
433AD = Punish the evil ones
2021AD = Punish the evil ones
All that changes are who gets labelled as the baddies.

So, one person's evils in 433AD - "Against false laws of heretics", turned up during the covid show as "Against heretics refusing the sacrament of injection", where people were calling for people refusing experimental gene therapy to be rounded-up, denied health care etc and in one case I saw "they should be left to die gasping in darkness'

People seem willing to kill all to easily and the animal nature of humanity always seems to be lurking in the background. Give some people an officially permitted hatred of some 'other', and many of them will jump on the bandwagon because the chance to be an officially-sanctioned bastard is too tempting to resist.
