Open (More or Less) Post on Covid 65

So it's time for another open post. The rules are the same as before:
1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.
2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.
3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue.
4. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. Also, please don't drag in current quarrels about sex, race, religious, etc. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.
With that said, the floor is open for discussion.
Thursday’s Testimony at the Truckers Commission
Date: 2022-11-05 02:36 am (UTC)Three key convoy organizers testified on Thursday: BJ Dichter, Steven Bauder and Tamara Lich (in that order). Each is a unique character who deserves a sketch.
BJ Dichter: the less I mention this man the better. I considered him to be a ‘fed’ right from Day 1 and am still convinced that he is. As the convoy’s ‘spokesperson’ and ‘PR guy’ he was churning out ‘disinformation’ a mile a minute during the protest, yet he was never arrested, never charged, and slipped out of Ottawa unscathed after the crackdown. A trained diamond sorter born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he pretends to be a trucker (technically, he has owned a truck for a couple of years). The guy talked and talked and talked – mostly about himself – and threw everybody involved in the convoy, except himself, under the bus. Oh yeah, and he’s writing a book about ‘the convoy’. I think his name should be ‘Judas’.
James Bauder: if anybody could be the polar opposite of BJ Dichter, it is this man. Hardly anybody knows about him, even though the Freedom Convoy originated from him. How can this possibly be? The reason is simple: Bauder is a mystic… he has only one foot in ‘this world’ at the best of times. His story has never been previously told. Of course, the mainstream media will inevitably dismiss him as a lunatic; the alternative media (e.g., Rebel News) have already dismissed him as an embarrassment. He testified to the commission, without legal representation, and opened his heart out without any fear or even self-awareness much of the time. This is a man who clearly had a profound personal experience of the divine in recent years. He swears that God told him to do the convoy. It was Bauder who contacted Pat King, James Barber and others to get the convoy ‘rolling’. He cried several times during testimony and especially when asked to describe his impression about the convoy’s impact: he was in ecstasy when talking about how the convoy caught on to be a worldwide phenomenon. Bauder was the also the author of the draft Memorandum of Understanding that he wanted to present to the federal government in an attempt to bridge the gap between the isolated rulers and their ignored subjects (of course, the media portrayed it as a manifesto of insurrection). Even though this MOU idea was daft, I have a funny feeling that it will in some way come to being: if Canada is ever to be a functional democracy again important structural reforms will need to be made (which is now the work of the Canadian Citizens Coalition). In a previous report I mentioned the ‘Divine Hand’ behind the convoy: now I’ve seen that Hand!
Tamara Lich: this diminutive, kind-to-a-fault Métis woman was the person behind the GoFundMe campaign for the Freedom Convoy that accumulated $8 million in little more than a week and then GiveSendGo for more than $10 million in a matter of days after the former was shut down. Tamara explained that when she set up the GoFundMe she figured that it might garner $10,000 or at most $20,000 (you know, like every other convoy fundraiser in Canadian history) and could not believe it when it was growing by $1 million per day. She said it was ‘never about the money’ but a way for people who believed in the cause to find a way to participate in it. Quite a lot of tears were shed during Tamara’s testimony: describing how her aged grandmother lived in utter solitude for two years; how her gregarious father was refused service in his small town ‘watering hole’ because of his health status; how she could not bear how her prime minister called her a racist and a misogynist; and how so many people she met as she crossed the country melted in tears telling her that until the convoy showed up they were seriously contemplating suicide (and woeful tales of friends and family who had already committed suicide).
The most interesting thing I found about Thursday’s marathon of testimony was the behaviour of the Commissioner (judge) Rouleau. In particular, when the ‘oddball’ James Bauder was trying to give testimony as best he could, Rouleau was kind and patient and encouraging without being patronizing. It really appeared that this commissioner – who many have accused of being a ‘Liberal stooge’ – is actually taking interest in the testimony of these “deplorables”.
I will provide my description of Friday’s events at the Commission via a separate ‘report’: this one is already too long. Freedom! Liberté!

Date: 2022-11-05 02:05 pm (UTC)I didn't know about the mystic status of Steven Bader and intend to look up his testimony. Amazing too how Tamara Lich thought small amounts of money would arrive and then the avalanche poured in. Simply stunning. And how those #*#+#*!!! worked to undo it!

Date: 2022-11-05 07:10 pm (UTC)James Bauden’s organization is called Canada Unity (https://www.canada-unity.ca/): its logo may be familiar to some people in this forum: it is simple and unique.

Date: 2022-11-05 04:45 pm (UTC)more than $10 million in a matter of days
I bore a great grin of satisfaction when I heard that the government was freaking out over the pace of donations, because of what it signified about the movement's popularity.
Tamara Lich is a sweet-hearted lady and it's my life mission to hug her.
On the "divine hand" aspect: I was speaking to my wife about this and we realized that this protest had to happen in Canada - because it had to be peaceful. If there had been any whiff of genuine violence about the protest, we could well be building back better under martial law right now, as another commenter said.
Can't wait to hear your run-down on Friday! (I'll send my view in advance: my boys Chris and Jeremy pwned them).
Re: Thursday’s Testimony at the Truckers Commission
Date: 2022-11-05 06:31 pm (UTC)I'll be honest that I was both excited and nervous about Jeremy testifying: not as though I think that he is guilty of anything other than a wicked sense of humour, but with the combination of the system's determined effort to break him through illegal and inhumane forms of incarceration and grilling by laywers, I had my doubts and hoped and prayed that he would pass through the gauntlet unscathed. And so he did! Like his girlfriend told Viva Frei a few days ago, "Jeremy's been through worse"... the guy's got stones the size of Gibraltar Rock!
As for Chris, may the Gods bless him abundantly! This brave, damaged, lion-hearted patriot did our whole country proud on Friday! Based on what I know about him, I know that had the confrontation gone on for a second day, he would have been in the front line on Feb 20th, too!
