I posted this on kimberlysteele's open post, but I go on social media about once a month. Scrolling through one day last week was like reading the obituary section of the newspaper. Not covid deaths, necessarily, but: a 20-year old shot and killed, a child dying of cancer, a 60-year old who has been immobile for years due to her MS, a man/wife/adult son all dying within days of each other (don't know the cause). These are people I know or are people my friends know and are from both "red" and "blue" areas. I also have a lot of sick coworkers and another coworker (double vaxxed for sure, I don't know about booster status) with a brand new cancer diagnosis.
In collapse-of-a-different-kind news, anyone else on the East Coast seeing massive grocery store shortages? My family in the Midwest are not, but here a number of milk brands are missing, no chicken thighs, no lemons, no lettuce, eggs are running low, etc. (Thankfully I'm all stocked up with my pantry and chest freezer and have non-grocery store sources for some eggs and produce.)
