I tend to agree about decentralization. I can see countries where something like a woke totalitarian state can survive for decades, slowly decaying into feudalism. Other countries (like US) can easily fall apart once the money to bribe different power centers go away. Different regions in US can evolve into unrecognizable opposites. I can imagine California ending up as N. Korea while other lucky regions follow a Retrotopia model.
