bad newsThe semi-open posts  I've hosted here on the Covid-19 narrative, the inadequately tested experimental drugs for it, and the whole cascading mess surrounding them have continued to field a huge number of comments, so I'm opening another space for discussion. The rules are the same as before:

1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.

2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.

3. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.

With that said, the floor is open for discussion.

I fully agree. I'm currently planning to vote for a party I disagree with on nearly everything because the issue of the vaccines is so important right now. I doubt they'll win, but I figure they don't need to: they just need to do well enough to slow things down and buy me a little bit of time while I make arrangements to leave Canada.

Leave Canada to go where? After this week's disappointing announcement by the Ontario government to introduce vaccine mandates to eat in restaurants or go to a bar or a gym or a movie, I am more than ready to leave this country that I was born in but no longer recognize (for various reasons). I am British by ethnicity but my cousins in England assure me that things are even crazier there. The US is the very definition of crazy town and I cannot see how they will ever sort things out short of civil war/partition as described in Greer's novel, Retrotopia. Most of my immediate family have emigrated to the US and they can't figure it out either. Iceland is the only country I have visited in the past few years that struck me as sane - and they don't accept Canadians. If you know of a place, please share!!

I'm currently in Ontario: born and raised in Ottawa, and until quite recently the furthest I'd ever consider moving was Kingston. But I no longer feel I can live in Canada, given the political and cultural direction we seem to be heading in. The thing which really bothers me about that announcement is that literally the day before, Ford was saying it wasn't happening, so I can't trust anything that the government says something won't happen actually won't happen.

As for where, I'm looking at somewhere saner in the US, just as soon as I prove I'm an American by birth. It's very far from ideal, but it's the best I can do right now.

I was born in Canada and I am beginning to feel like a trapped animal. I do have access to the UK but, as I noted, things seem no better there. I've been looking for options but ... nada. I have a good friend in Brasil (which is in a state of upheaval for all kinds of reasons) and he tells me that South America overall has lots of issues. I'm too old to be accepted as an immigrant to either Australia or New Zealand - but I wouldn't go anyway as they seem to be in the grips of an authoritarian takeover. It's beyond ludicrous. I'm almost 65 years old and I never thought I would ever feel so disoriented in Canada, of all places. I get that we're living through a "historical moment" but with all the lies and omissions and virtue-signaling and vax shaming and inexplicable decisions - it is all too bizarre.

The UK doesn't seem to be as bad as North America / Australia re vaccine mandates. Only care home workers have to be vaccinated or they will lose their jobs - and even this will be fought legally.

I am a govt worker in the UK but luckily we have pretty good worker's rights, comparatively speaking.
