creation of the worldIt's getting on for midnight, so we can proceed with a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism and I'll do my best to answer it. Any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. (Any question received after then will not get an answer, and will likely just be deleted.) If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 143,916th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.0 of The Magic Monday FAQ here.

I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use the button above to access my online tip jar. If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page here and my SubscribeStar page here.

Bookshop logoI've also had quite a few people over the years ask me where they should buy my books, and here's the answer. Bookshop.org is an alternative online bookstore that supports local bookstores and authors, which a certain other gargantuan corporation doesn't, and I now have a shop there, which you can check out here. Please consider patronizing it if you'd like to purchase any of my books online.

And don't forget to look up your Pangalactic New Age Soul Signature at CosmicOom.com.

With that said, have at it!

Concurrently Practicing Multiple Religions

1. Would a full Moon be the best time to place a silver pendant outside to create a protective amulet?

2. The last couple of months, the full Moon occurred on a rainy night in my area. Would all that cold water falling down on the intended amulet prevent it from charging? If so, would placing the pendant in a clear plastic bag or container allow it to absorb the energy of the Moon while rain is falling?

3. Would practicing several religions concurrently be a bad idea? I have taken up the practice of Catholic sacramental magic but I have also recently created an altar to the Vodou lwa and have been serving them, with positive improvements in my life as a result. I have also put together a shrine for the Roman Deities and I will try to venerate and honor them via the praxis of Religio Romana. I devote specific days of the week and month to each religious path, so that I don’t end up overwhelmed by ritual work. Of course, Catholicism and Vodou were, and still are, practiced side by side. I have decided that I don’t want to create single, syncretic rituals as part of my religious practice. If it won’t cause major issues, I would like to pursue each religion/pantheon in their own ways.

If you aren't able to put the amulet in an open window as JMG suggests, remember that the Moon is shining on the tops of the clouds and that lunar influence is being absorbed by the water.

As an alternative, if what JMG suggests isn't possible, I would suggest that on the second or third night, you also put out a shallow bowl (ideally a silver bowl but a white crockery bowl would be fine) where the rain will fall into it and fill it at least partway. Get up before the sun rises and the moon sets, place the amulet into the bowl, cover it with a plate, take the bowl indoors, uncover it and set it on your altar or some dark or dimly lit place for awhile (maybe an hour) and let the amulet soak. Then dry it off and wrap it up until you are ready to consecrate it.

You can then do some other magic with the moon water if you wish. The magic should be compatible with the character of the amulet, obviously. If you don't have a use for the water, pour it out on a plant.
