Political Astrology

 I'm pleased to announce that, as suggested by a number of readers over on the blog, I've set up accounts with Patreon and SubscribeStar to offer regular political and economic astrology forecasts to subscribers. Subscriptions are $5 a month, and the same material will be on both sites, so you don't gain anything by subscribing to both!

I plan on putting up at least one post a month for the time being, including but not limited to:

• Detailed quarterly ingress charts for the US and other countries;
• Charts for eclipses and comets;
• Discussions of national foundation charts where those can be traced;
• Instructional essays on mundane astrology.

There are two posts currently up, an introduction to mundane astrology and an expanded forecast for the US using the Libra 2019 ingress chart. There'll be more as time and circumstances permit -- and, er, the more people subscribe, the more of my writing time I can afford to put into this project, if that's any incentive. 

(You can also simply use these if you'd like to help support my blogging habit and find Patreon or SubscribeStar more convenient than the tip jar. I won't get offended if you don't want to read the astrology essays.)

I don't need to. It's under the current ingress, and so I can tell you in advance that it's going to flop, leaving a divided Democratic party at war with itself.

I think Pelosi knows it’s a loser, she spent months resisting it. Oddly enough, she doesn’t seem to have TDS, but she has to cater to a lot of primary voters and donors who have.

The recent photos of her I've seen look as though she knows she's deeply stressed. I suspect it doesn't help that McConnell has already said that in his opinion there's nothing even remotely worthy of impeachment in the phone call transcript, so the whole thing is DOA in the Senate even if the House votes to impeach.

I think the whistleblower is tricked by Trump or actually works for him. Trump wants the Dems to attack him, it´s a trap, probably a way to trigger that civil war. I´ve heard of Hunter Biden before - Bannon mentioned him in an interview, suggesting of course that Trump knew too. He has slyly been waiting for an opportunity to use the whole thing. Opportunity came when a near-senile Joe Biden has been semi-crowned as Dem nominee…

Nancy Pelosi can´t be *this* stupid, so I think she is under a lot of pressure right now to at least pretense-impeach Trump. When that fails, the daggers will be drawn…

I've been wondering since this first came up whether that might be what's going on. One way or another, Trump's going to use it to his advantage, and since even the corporate media polls are saying that most Americans aren't interested in impeachment, I'm pretty sure the Dems are going to find that they've just walked into a whirling propeller.

I subscribed for the $5, but if you add another level in Patreon -- say $20 a month -- I would be glad to subscribe at that level. I do that now for James Howard Kunstler because I enjoy his podcasts and blogging. I am even more of a fan of yours and have been a reader for much longer. Twenty dollars is the price of one book (or two movie tickets, or any number of other, lesser, entertainments) and your content is much more interesting than 95% of things that I have spent that much money on. I know I could just put the money in your tip jar, and I have occasionally, but the once a month automatic debit makes it easier.

Thank you! I'll have to come up with some kind of benefit to offer at that level, since Patreon requires each tier to have some specified benefit. Still, I should be able to come up with something.

Jess and I would like to subscribe at the $20/mo level too. We're gonna give this auto payment thing one more chance. If we get hacked again on the new card we'll just have to figure out how to make it all work with a check like we've been doing it..

If I understand correctly, SubscribeStar will let you use prepaid credit cards, if that's any help. Other than that, well, I'm looking into options for those who would like to use checks.

For now I just subscribed at the Moonwatcher level and bumped the contribution amount up to $20. That will be in place of the paper check we usually send every month. Until it stops working, and then we'll go back to the paper checks!

I'm new at this, so only just figured out that Patreon allows you to set your patronage at any amount you like above the tier level. If you'd like to donate $20 a month, I'd be delighted and grateful!

I hope it took! The math doesn't seem to bear that out though, when you multiply the number of subscribers by the amount pledged - even if we're the only ones above the $5 level, and I doubt we are.

Thank you! One ingress chart for Japan, coming up. I'll have to do some research and get current with trends in Japanese politics, economics, and society, but that shouldn't take more than a few weeks. (If you can recommend good English language sources online for Japanese news, that would be welcome.)

I use reading the news as a way to practice my Japanese, so I can't say too much about English sources, however, I have a few starting points:

NHK and Japantimes look like decent sources. NHK does a lot of videos, but they also have some articles there as well, although I will admit I haven't looked too much into their English offerings, and I haven't looked at Japantimes in years, but I remember they were pretty good when I did. I also find that much like playing the BBC against RT can offer insights, playing Japanese sources against Chinese sources is also fairly helpful.

I'll take a look and see if I can find other good English sources when I have some more time for it.

I cast the Libra ingress chart for Tokyo and it's very interesting indeed -- should be easy enough to interpret once I have a handle on the internal politics of the LDP and the Diet generally. I'll put some time into the news, and into more in-depth pieces on the Japanese political and economic situation, and see what I can do.

Would the moment of the start of the Reiwa Era have any astrological significance?

Good question. Figuring it out would involve casting ingress charts for several previous eras -- Showa and Heisei at dead minimum, but preferably more than that -- and see how their indications match up with what happened during those eras, then try to apply the same principles to Reiwa and see what happens.

Roughly how much would it cost to free up enough of your time for this to happen?

I'll have to do some number crunching, but a project like that would take about as much time and effort as writing a nonfiction book, so it's not going to be cheap -- say, $250 a month for a year. Before we get to that, though, can you recommend a good source for the times at which the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras were formally announced? Also, am I correct that the place of the formal announcement is the imperial palace in Kyoto?

Readings for Brazil

Michael, if you could talk about the foundation chart for Brazil eventually, and maybe a few ingress charts too eventually, i'd be more than pleased. I know a lot of people will want to know about their countries, but in defense of my proposal, Brazil is a pretty huge country, with a very tumultuous political life right now. it might matter a lot in the global scene too.

I've suspected for quite a while now that Brazil is on track to become a major power in the late 21st or early 22nd century, and yes, it's a huge country with interesting politics. I'll see how things go -- and how many countries I can fit in! -- but it's certainly a possibility.

Will you be (or would you consider) doing the ingress reports for Canada? I'm not sure if the subscription fits in my budget, but it's definitely of interest!
Also, how accessible will the posts be to someone like myself who is pretty clueless about astrology? I couldn't decipher a chart to save my life, but am very interested in learning.

I'll see what I can do. I plan on doing reports for as many countries as time permits, and "time" here refers to how much of my working time I can afford to set aside for mundane astrology, thus to how the income goes. Still, Canada's a real possibility.

With regard to accessibility, well, have you been able to follow the ingress chart discussions I've posted on my blog? If not, tell me what doesn't make sense; I've got an essay on the basics of mundane astrology available to subscribers on both platforms, and I can expand that as needed to help readers figure out how to understand the charts.

I've very much enjoyed the ingress charts on the blog, though I don't totally "get" what all the terms really mean. I've mostly just been taking it for granted that you've done your homework astrologically, and making the most I can of it. I think I'll just go ahead and subscribe and see what I can learn, and ask for larification if I don't understand the essay. I've enjoyed pretty much everything of yours I've read on any topic, and I for seem to have the gusto to crack open an astrology book by myself at home, so this seems like a good way to learn!

I've signed up for you Patreon as well but, please be careful that you don't burn yourself out. You put out way more content then anyone else I read - two regular blogs in which you actually reply to all the comments, fiction books on a regular basis, non-fiction books on a regular basis, interviews, events... etc. And now the Patreon material.

I really don't want to hear that you made yourself sick trying to do everything all at once. We are about the same age and I know I'm slowing down.

Thank you. I'm actually doing this in order to slow down -- having a steady income from mundane astrology will give me the opportunity to take a breather on some other aspects of my work, and devote some time to a couple of big projects that need ample time and a good deal of reading and study.

I know the same content is going to be posted in both places, but has anyone noticed any feature differences between Patreon and SubscribeStar?
