1) The difference between an investment and a speculation is quite simple, though a lot of effort has gone into obscuring it. Did you buy it in order to receive a share of profits at regular intervals, without selling it -- for example, income stocks yielding dividends, or real estate yielding rents? That's an investment. Or did you buy it because you thought that down the road you could sell it for more than it cost you? That's a speculation.

2) A house chart that perfects with negative significators says, "Yes, you can do this, but you won't like the results." If that chart has favorable judge and witnesses, you'll come out all right anyway; if the chart has a positive mode of perfection but negative judge and witnesses, that's good in the short term but bad in the longer term or the larger picture.
