What I am trying to say is that they are trying to make something that is an overly ambitious project with cheap labor from India and other cheap "mechanical turk."

They are trying to make on the cheap what is an effort beyond the Manhattan Project and its follow-up, the other dubious Rocket to the Moon project. (I will not entertain here the conspiracy theory that the whole scope of that may have been to perfect the ICBMs. 😉) To an astute observer, even the logos are similar.

What they had in common was their enormous cost.

AI as it is now is just a joke in terms of how seriously it is scrambling the last remaining energy boom from the fracking bonanza, which is ironic since AI just looks like fracking the internet, with the same effect—getting less and less while destroying the fields (internet).

I was thinking about the Percival post—if something could have given capitalism 10 to 20 years more, it was the information revolution, if it had been done right. But I think Ted K. (cabin fame) really threw a wrench, made them paranoid, so they became obsessed with spying and trying to know everything rather than what is important.

LE: I think China even mocked them not so subtle when they announced that they made their DeepSeek AI, ChatGPT competition, with only 200 fresh graduates, 20 million dollars and commercially available gaming GPUs.

Replacing the soul and will, someone in the Pantheon is having quite a laugh here, I think is a group laugh. Is like replacing real magic with prestidigitation.
