One of the virtues of a market crash is that a lot of notional money vanishes very quickly. If you have, as we do, far more dollars than things to buy with them, that can balance out in one or, occasionally, both of two ways -- inflation of the currency or heavy losses in the markets. As it happens, I expect both, but then I grew up with stagflation in the 1970s.
