That ad captures the whole myth of progress thing really well.
Science has made a number of legitimate accomplishments over the decades, let's review them (e.g., heliocentric understanding of the solar system, basic surgery, penicillin), and science/medicine will therefore keep endlessly progressing and cure cancer next.
Except it doesn't work that way. Science and medicine have done some things very well but there are limits to what they can do and no such thing as infinite progress. The inability to accept that is the root of so many contemporary problems.
