My advice is to get a good dowser to first assess the energy currents on your land. If you have an excess of telluric or earth energy then it may not be the best site for a temple. Sites with crossing ground water streams or on fault lines aren't great. You may sense the land already, lots of people can.
From what I've researched, the shape of the standing stones matter. Platonic shapes are important, so square section columns or obelisks if you can get them, which would easily make up for the lack of a resonating chamber. Doorways also matter, in the Stonehenge style.
Again, this is speculative based on my research. It's entirely possible to have a great symbolic structure that works on the astral and looks cool, rather than functioning on all the planes, particularly, the etheric plane that I'm quite convinced the temple tech largely works on (but it spills over to the physical).
