There are several very good decks for children. One that is very gentle and comfortable for young readers is the Hanson-Roberts tarot. Another is the Gummy Bear Tarot. Another is Tarot for Kids. You might have a look at these and see if they work.
With regard to the Death card, that's a teaching moment, and it's best to have it very soon, as soon as she gets the cards. Explain very carefully that Trump XIII doesn't mean dying, it means that something is going to end, opening the way to new beginnings. Do the same thing for each of the other difficult cards. That's an important lesson, and an 11-year-old is entirely capable of learning it.
