I've read that, and found the evidence is pretty good for the hypothesis. However, the link between Polio and the the poliovirus seems equally convincing to me. For what it's worth, the most convincing explanation I've seen is that DDT causes changes to the poliovirus, which then causes polio.
It's the most convincing explanation I've seen that allows for the fact that both seem implicated in the disease.
