Whenever I asked her about it she said things like, "oh, it was terrible" but it didn't really seem to have been that much of a big deal to her. I didn't, obviously, have a frame of reference for comparisons when I was speaking to her back then, but now I'd observe they weren't locked in their homes, businesses weren't shut down, etc.
