John Gilbert didn't recall any such connection when the Hamner material came our way. (One of Hamner's students from many years ago, who'd saved the course material, mailed it to the first Essene order she could find when she had to move into a senior home; it came to John's order, at a time when my wife was its secretary, so we had a box of lessons suddenly show up on our doorstep. I scanned 'em all, by hand.) But there's certainly common ground -- possibly because both derived from the broader New Thought movement, possibly for some more direct reason.
