"The wise rule their stars, fools obey them" is a very widely cited maxim; "The stars incline, they do not compel" is another. Your karma, or at least your negative and entangling karma, is the product of folly and tends to produce more folly in its wake; overcome it, and wisdom gets a word in edgewise.
