"Your vibrations" is a slang term for the basic tone and quality of your consciousness; your ordinary emotional tone is part of that, and for most people, it's the part that's easiest to sense. Are you normally happy, or sad, or angry, or tense and guarded, or depressed, or what? That's one good guide to your current vibe.
We experience the astral plane in part through our emotions. The more bitter, miserable, and angry your emotional state, the further down the astral you are. The more bright, expansive, and joyous your emotional state, the higher you are. That doesn't mean that you should pretend to be happier than you are! Your vibe is what it is; regular practice of spiritual disciplines will change it gradually over time. If you're bitter. miserable, and angry, in other words, accept that: that's the reality you have to deal with right now. Get to work on the practices, and let it change over time.
