For what is worth, yes, lynching is still popular back in Mexico. I've seen it happen, and I've also heard it happening along religious or ideological lines. Outside of some capital cities it really is lawless, despite our past governments attempts at proving otherwise, for good or for ill, and there is still an awareness that witches bring bad luck because much nasty witchery is also still practiced, unfortunately.
