Let's do a psychological experiment - everyone please be honest!
You meet 2 people: one is a suckup, servile yesman that keeps complimenting you, offers to bring you coffee etc. The other is proud, respectful but honest.
Who do you trust? Who would you befriend? Don't you feel sometimes like smacking the first one as he keeps agreeing with you?
So, at least in this respect, our leaders are just like me (maybe other people are nicer).
Add to that that a lot of people have slave souls (meaning they prefer others to make their decisions for them) and you have a match made in hell.
