Open (More or Less) Post on Covid 49
Jul. 12th, 2022 12:16 pm
The pandemic has been scrubbed from the front pages at this point and replaced by a different hysteria du jour, but the semi-open posts I've hosted here on the Covid-19 narrative, the inadequately tested experimental drugs for it, the rising toll of side effects from those drugs, and the whole cascading mess surrounding these things have continued to field a steady stream of comments, so I'm opening yet another space for discussion. The rules are the same as before: 1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.
2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.
3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue.
4. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.
With that said, as countries with high vaccination rates stagger on with one Covid surge after another, while countries with low vaccination rates have next to no casese of Covid, the floor is open for discussion.
Seven times Seven
Date: 2022-07-12 04:30 pm (UTC)I really thought that some breaking point would be reached earlier this year. My hometown is the top of the (crap) heap for this insanity. It lives on but goes unspoken. Will it eventually break me, break my family. The longer it goes on, the deeper the anger is that it builds... Couldn't help but notice tempers flaring last week, mostly by our hosts admonishments. I feel it and didn't want to add to the fire but I'm almost riotous. I want to throw the trash can through the glass window but what window? 2nd Avenue and 42nd street come to mind but it's not worth it. I want to see the house of cards fall of it's own weight but it's getting to staggering heights, held firmly in place by lies and those that believe them. I keep thinking about the fateful day I have to step into the pediatricians office again and if the subject comes up, my one overriding response is... 'Do you know what an emergency is?' because covid for kids isn't it. There is no reason. What can I do if they give me the 'your crazy' face? The only thing that makes sense, give it back.
Not sure what others are sensing in the astral plane but dreams have been dark... It's been months since my wife took her second dose. I hate both those days at the hospital more than any other days in my life. All seems well but I constantly find myself thinking the last line of Blade Runner... "I didn't know how long we had together. Who does?" Lot's of Phillip K. Dick floating around in this new reality. One of the best finds of last week and was <a href="https://simonsheridan.me/ideas/the-eternal-feminine-the-devouring-mother-and-the-fourth-face-of-god-part-1/?unapproved=2912&moderation-hash=0a4a2c397045b46adf36f3e8e7e2a605#comment-291>this, thank you Erika</a> and I think it has a lot to say about why this is still going and picking up steam.
Thank you

Feeling Special
Date: 2022-07-12 05:02 pm (UTC)The main difference in my personal experience is the length of time I have been sick. The symptoms themselves for me have been mild but oddly varied with the biggest impact being the loss of taste and smell after I got over it the first time that lasted many months. This newest one has me coughing a lot at night with some phlegm from sinus drainage but feeling better after clearing it out in the morning only to repeat the next night. Nothing like the first time.
So leaving out our response and all the fun ways this may have impacted the virus once it was in the wild, was there anything truly novel about the original? If someone designed it to have 'gain of function' what was it about the virus that was improved? Is it a Captain America style virus with some special shield that makes it harder for our immune systems to flush it out, some kind of chimera with mixed parts from different virus, just a hard core lab trained hulk to spread easily?
Looking briefly online it seems maybe 'novel' just meant new but that is not how it was used in the propaganda which meant this one is different.

My comment was a joke but a biting joke. I said, 'Caller we have Jack Ruby on the line.'
I realized later it might have sounded like I was referring to the anonymous commenter as Jack Ruby. My apologies for being clumsy.
My point was that Jack Ruby was a whistleblower and was roundly ignored. What he said was heard, even printed,
and either lost in the swirl of Beatlemania (for instance) or cognitive dissonance.
Now there was a whistleblower whose revelation 'You are going to have a different form of government' just whistled past in the dark.

The crazy continues
Date: 2022-07-12 05:29 pm (UTC)The local government (and the new national government) declined to re-mandate masks. Work continue to pretend it's "a rule" but by what authority? A sizeable minority of people just don't wear them. As well as leading the mask insurrection, I made some comments about, "but I thought when you got vaccinated you were never supposed to get that thing, not get it five or six times". Accused of being "undiplomatic". In my humble, anecdotal opinion, this is immune imprinting. Waiting for the first hospitalisation, the first death in my immediate work group. Of course the answer, officially, is always more boosters, more masks. Will these people ever engage their brains? I do feel sorry for people suffering like this for doing what they believed was "the right thing", but look how we were vilified for thinking for ourselves!
Needless to say we three unvaxxed are milling around, failing to catch anything. I am truly very worried for all these thoughtless people.

Wandervogel
Date: 2022-07-12 05:33 pm (UTC)Are they out on a wandervogel JMG?
I just read about that after seeing you mention it in the magic monday yesterday.
Incidentally, I just read Hesse's Journey to the East. For some reason I'd never gotten around to that one before. It strikes me that the members of the League could have been on their own Wandervogel. Glad I finally read it as it seems like a kind of prologue to Magister Ludi in many ways.
I'm rather taken with the idea of Wandervogel... my family participated in a U.S. side Volksmarch, and my aunt was in a club for it. All of these walking groups and clubs seem worthy of reviving in some form.
As for the present topic, it does seem like the people who catch Covid the most are those who have gotten vaxxed the most.

Date: 2022-07-12 05:47 pm (UTC)It's almost like a war at this point, dragging on in pitiless attrition because neither side will surrender an inch. Truth doesn't matter, only winning.
This is how it seems, at any rate, after being on Twitter a lot more than usual. I keep thinking I've come across a statistic, argument, or credentialed article regarding vaccine ineffectiveness and vaccine harms that can't be shot down and undermined by the other side, but of course it never happens.
I've come to the point of wanting to find a middle ground, a place of potential truce, where people don't have to waste energy convincing each other of the harms or benefits of the vaccine, but where they can nonetheless agree that the mandates were an egregious wrong across the board, and maybe be willing to discuss the lockdown harms also. I feel that if a flag could be planted in that territory, more people from "the other side" than we might expect would be willing to approach.

Re: Wandervogel
Date: 2022-07-12 05:59 pm (UTC)The League of Journeyers to the East is in fact a great image of the Wandervogel movement, both in its triumphs and in the way that (like most such movements) it unraveled slowly and awkwardly. I'd like to see something of the sort get moving again, even knowing that it would come apart the same way in due time. There's a point to the exercise, as Hesse pointed out in his novel.

Re: Wandervogel
Date: 2022-07-12 06:11 pm (UTC)Biophobia, Ahriman, Djinn and AI, oh my!
Date: 2022-07-12 06:13 pm (UTC)Some (most?) events in history can be traced back to other, previous, inciting events. Of course, history is a tangled web, and nothing is the sole outcome of a single preceding event. But some things just about feel like it. They are hard to see at the time, but in retrospect, these events feel like billiard balls bouncing one into the other, in a highly Newtonian way. Quantum mechanics need not apply. For example, the Treaty of Westphalia more or less locked in the existence of a political character like Hitler. Westphalia said if it wasn't Hitler, it would be someone else. That took a few hundred years to play out, but the outcome was almost baked into the cake.
What has occurred to me is that the second Nietzsche uttered the phrase "god is dead", Klaus Schwab, and whatever forces he is a front for, were baked into the cake. Again, it's taken a long stretch of time to come to fruition, but this feels like billiard ball one bouncing directly into billiard ball two.
Humans seem to be biologically wired to need a higher power, and the death of god created an enormous vacuum that HAD to be filled. And those who would fill that vacuum aren't interested in looking around to see if something already exists which would fill that hole. Or if they maybe got the underlying precept wrong in the first place. No, they would become as gods themselves. The people of science are trying to create AI, which they will merge with, to become god. From their point of view, god doesn't exist, but they are compelled to "create" something to fill that hole. They are so betrayed by the 'death' of god that they intend to will one into existence, almost as a giant middle finger to the god they don't believe exists. A deep and guttural scream of rage against an absent parent.
What does it mean though, that the people who would be god, are biophobic? Have a desire to extinguish pain and loss and death from existence, instead of sit an grieve together, and accept limits? Have no time for embodied experience, and would be content to be a brain in a vat? Are intellectual to the extreme, cutting off emotional growth? Care not about the meek, and would just as soon apply eugenics on a vast scale as open a single soup kitchen? Would be as The Whale and try to gather ALL of the stuff to themselves, and attempt to squeeze it through the eye of a needle, instead of share one penny. Would zoom off into the infinite reaches of space to flee themselves instead of sitting under a tree, or becoming a tree, rooted to the ground, immobile, and explore the depths of inner experience? Is this Angry Old Testament God Redux?
Anyway, I'm wresting with Nietzsche = Schwab (et al), and I know this crew will have some thoughts on that :)

Growing list of injuries among my family and friends
Date: 2022-07-12 06:20 pm (UTC)- friend's dad had a stroke; left him blind in one eye.
- same friend's kid has seen his friends get sidelined from sports because of myocarditis; the kid wisely declined the shot after that
- my stepdaughter's grandma had a stroke of some kind that affected her speech
- a close friend of ours suddenly discovered a large growth in her lung; a suspected tumor and I fear the diagnosis will be advanced cancer that came out of nowhere, and she would be considered a very low risk individual for lung cancer.
- an aunt on my wife's side is in the hospital today after suffering "stroke like" symptoms
- a friend of mine nearly died from a cerebral-spinal fluid leak; first cause the doctors looked for: *clotting*
- a friend knows at least one person who died shortly after receiving a second shot
Serious health issues among those I know who are unvaxxed:
- none to report
The list will grow longer as time goes on. I have declined the mrna product. I feel anger, despair and fear as I bear witness to this growing tragedy, and had to get this off of my chest.
Re: Feeling Special
Date: 2022-07-12 06:24 pm (UTC)With a new virus there is more uncertainty as to the scope of infection of different tissues, long-term harms, impact on the immune system, ability to evolve into more dangerous forms, etc. than there is with e.g. a new strain of pandemic influenza.
The "function" that was "gained" was primarily the ability to readily infect and transmit between human beings. This can be accomplished relatively passively in a lab through "serial passage" in humanized mice - intentionally infecting mice that have human ACE2 receptors and other genes and allowing the virus to select for greater fitness until it gets over an evolutionary "hump" that it may never have been able to cross on its own.
As for whether any additional attributes may have been engineered into the virus with implications for virulence, it seems that a furin cleavage site (a protein sequence recognized by a human enzyme) may have been intentionally added with the goal of increasing infectiousness in human cells. There are other possibilities but from my perspective the more specific the claim the lower the probability.
It does seem that the latest strains are capable of reinfecting people that have been infected within the last six months, whether vaxxed or unvaxxed. That is concerning to me. Time will tell whether this is just a case of "normal" immune escape on a faster-than-usual timescale or whether the virus is beginning to evolve a more general evasion of immune response a la HIV which would have serious implications in terms of potential chronic/long-term infection and associated immune suppression, direct infection harms (e.g. spike protein effects), and potential induction of autoimmunity.

Date: 2022-07-12 06:41 pm (UTC)Anyway, yeah, I saw through some searching it was more than just hiking, but the other things you mentioned too, but hadn't gotten to reading deeply on the subject. I plan to do that. Do you know of any books on the subject, or is it mostly in context from other reading you've done?
The picture is awesome. I see something of the Aquarian age in these hippies-before-the-hippies. (The hippies and many of these other subcultures all seem to be a bricolage of things from the past.) I also see something of a neo-pagan energy also in this picture.
I did find this article: https://www.hipplanet.com/hip/activism/hippie-roots-the-perennial-subculture/
Them speaking of a "perennial subculture" got into my mind how in Hesse's book, The League is described as having always existed in different times and places.
Thanks for this... I'm getting chills now. It seems I'm riding a wave or tapping into something I need to learn more about.
Things like to fall together, I've noticed, and these things are falling together for me now.

Re: Seven times Seven
Date: 2022-07-12 07:03 pm (UTC)One of the members is a musician. In his turn speaking, he assured us all that his concerts would be safe, "because everyone's required to be vax'd, and the audience is all required to wear masks." In the next breath, he related casually how his wife and almost everyone in her band had come down with the Coof, despite following all the same measures. He showed not the slightest hint of cognitive dissonance. The group has a preponderance of social justice warriors, always on the lookout for discrimination to take umbrage at. But no hint of any worries about discriminating against unfoxed. I simply kept my mouth shut, rather than hijack the ostensible purpose for the meeting. I think I may send an email though, with a couple peer reviewed studies that gently poke at the assumptions behind his narrative.
I feel almost as alone as when I got divorced, but at least I've made a few connections with like-minded people. It's time to start really nurturing those relationships, I fear, and to gently back away from many others who don't.
