Open (More or Less) Post on Covid 20

The semi-open posts  I've hosted here on the Covid-19 narrative, the inadequately tested experimental drugs for it, and the whole cascading mess surrounding them have continued to field a very high number of comments, so I'm opening yet another space for discussion. The rules are the same as before: 

1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.

2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here. 
 
3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue. 

4. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules. 

With that said, as unexpected clusters of infectious diseases pop up among the vaccinated, hinting at the possibility of widespread and worsening immune-system dysfunction, the floor is open for discussion.

I suspect that after the covid snafu is over that there will be almost no trust in medical research.

Yup.

I spent some time in graduate school, albeit in the social sciences. I worked as a research assistant on a variety of projects for some very highly respected researchers and prestigious institutions.

I no longer trust academia or think that "peer reviewed study" means much of anything.

My experience with these highly-respected experts and prestigious organizations was that studies were poorly constructed and sloppily done (deadlines must be met at all costs), data was manipulated in all sorts of ways, and researchers were basically told to do whatever it took to find the results the funder wanted.

That was in the social sciences. But I have no reason to believe it's any different in the health sciences. It's the same publish-or-perish environment, the same deadline pressures, and funders hold the strings, so if they want studies to find (or not find) certain things, then that is what's gonna happen. Because if you ever want another grant, you play ball.

The reason I don't "trust the experts" and "trust the science" is because I've worked for experts, and I've seen how research happens in the current system with its perverse incentives. Knowing first-hand how experts operate and how research gets done is exactly what made me such a skeptic.

We've moved a few times, and I'm still on a bunch of old mailing lists and chatgroups that I'm too lazy to unsubscribe from. Ran across this snippet from someone I'm vaguely acquainted with back in the mid-Atlantic. Edited to protect that person's privacy:

"...so many Covid cases in the 8th grade at one of my schools, that the ENTIRE GRADE is quarantined, unless they are vaccinated and asymptomatic. Proof of vaccination has to be verified before returning to school. This is an administrative nightmare... School personnel are exhausted. I’ve never seen everyone so tired and feeling so helpless."

Not sure how accurate that is, but it looks like at least some schools near DC (public? private?) are barring entry in-person classes based on vixen status.

A number of things have changed in the many weeks since this forum started. For me, from where I stand (a city in one of the European biomedical police states, and with family and friends in USA blue cities) here's what stands out:

1. This is so totally NOT about health. (When was the last time the leader of any country wished a good number of his own people a crappy holiday??) The list of items to back up this assertion is long, you know it already, I won't bore you.

2. Mass formation really is a thing. (Email with relatives re: Christmas get together on par with Ionescu playlet)

3. The average double-vaxxed and boosted covidian cultist is terribly frightened, angry, and confused. Why, for heavensakes, won't the unvaxxed get vaxxed??!! Why all the "breakthrough" infections? OMG, Omicron!!! It seems to me that more than a few of the double-vaxxed and boosted covidian cultists are beginning to suspect, stomach-churningly, that rather than demonstrate their excellent example in leadership as good citizens in getting doiuble-vaxxed and boosted, they've been had-- turned into pincushion serfs to Big Pharma. But to the degree that they can aim their ire at the unvaxxed, that seems to help settle their stomachs. A little. For now.

4. The outrage of the unvaxxed at being excluded from employment and participation in basic activities that are part of civil society is, shall we say, not the temperature of Greenland, and it is headed in the opposite of an Arctic direction.

5. At this point, where the bulk of the double-vaxxed are going to be needing boosters, and then more boosters in order to remain "vaxxed," and many will not want them, perhaps the most meaningful battle is for human and civil rights and, relatedly, medical privacy. Part of this battle is public, it's about the laws and their interpretation and enforcement. But much of this battle is also very personal: do you accept the smartphone leash, or not?

Rob Braxman was mentioned by Joe Rogan recently-- by which I mean to say, Braxman got his spotlight in the Zeitgeist. I think he has a very important message, and the authority to deliver it.

Brian Mowrey has an interesting new piece on the putative mouse origin of Omicron. Whether or not Omicron is specifically a lab creation, scientists apparently already knew that it was possible for a strain of SARS-CoV2 to effectively bind both human and mouse ACE-2, because Ralph Baric's team successfully created several such strains in 2020 ostensibly so that they could use regular mice rather than transgenic "humanized" mice (with a human ACE-2 receptor) as a disease model.

They have mice expressing both human and mouse ACE2 receptors, and they're repeatedly infecting them with SARS-CoV2 to see how the virus evolves. They ended up with a surprise. "Remarkably, one mouse-adapted virus was able to replicate efficiently in ACE2-negative cell lines, a characteristic not described for any SARS-CoV-2 variants."

This sounds unsettlingly like Geert Vanden Bossche's proposed scenario of increased virulence by way of receptor switching.

A bit of an update for my NC friends.
Things in my world are clearly headed off the rails.
All last week, we were experiencing a daily increase in ill COVID patients in the office. This is now becoming vertical. We have not been officially told that we have any Omicron in my area, however, things have subtly changed. I will repeat, I am not sure we are dealing with Omicron or with the long-dreaded Delta winter surge. It is hard to know with the testing regime that has been cobbled together right now.
The promised testing improvements under the Biden administration have failed to materialize. Indeed, things may be worse now. We have so so many patients doing testing on their own that numbers cannot be accurately maintained. But those kits are really becoming scarce, and unless they have been hoarded, they are not available. The medical system testing remains grotesquely spotty and intensely expensive. This complete shitshow would actually be funny if peoples lives were not depending on it.
How have things changed? – Way way more vaccinated and boostered patients are now becoming positive. Many of them quite ill. Indeed, as OUTPATIENTS, I would say our vaccinated ill is basically on par with the vaccinated population at large. The same is true of the boosters. So, basically, just like Denmark, we seem to be at complete par. Ergo, the vaccines are basically worthless for transmission of the virus. So far, it remains about 60-40 unvaccinated-vaccinated in the hospital. However, the vaccinated are becoming more and more ill. And unfortunately, are needing to be admitted. This is NOT just nursing home patients. On the other side of the coin, for those who believe that natural immunity is the golden ticket, I have news for you. I have been steadfastly telling the brain trust that I have yet to see a previously infected non-vaccinated patient come in with COVID symptoms again. Well – that run is now over. I have seen two in the past 2 days. We will see how this trend develops in the coming days.
The symptoms are changing as well. For the majority, it is a bad head cold. But for those who are really ill, the respiratory symptoms that used to predominate are now replaced with intense nausea-inducing headaches at times leading to severe vomiting, intense fever, chills, and now I have been seeing a few patients with intense diarrhea. Interestingly, the muscle cramps and pain seem to all of a sudden be really bad.
Also, there is some decrease in a few patients in efficacy with the monoclonal antibodies. They just do not seem to be working as well as they did for some people. Furthermore, these treatments are being heavily restricted and patients must now meet strict criteria to get them. I have been told there is quite a supply problem. I am not sure that is true – just the scuttlebutt. It is alarming to me that intense preparation was not done on these anti-virals by our officials – but as Lambert pointed out in the links above from the Vice-President, it is clear that further variants were not even on the radar of our officials this year. Omicron came out of nowhere, don’t you know. Who could have expected this to happen? And it was also crystal clear that this antibody therapy was not on Dr. Fauci’s or Biden’s list of things to take care of. If you live in certain states like Texas or Florida and others, your governor and health officials had the foresight to secure your own supply, limited as it may be. Everywhere else – well – good luck. We are spending our time on vaccine mandates and passports for a non-sterilizing vaccine.
Sorry, if I sound very bitter – it is because I am. I get to watch people suffer every day because of the gross incompetence on display at almost every level of this country.
We had one big group of patients the other day from a big holiday party. It was the same despicable scene of all the guests showing proof of vaccination and a recent COVID test – running around the party unmasked, while the hired help all were masked. I know this because I saw the pictures and videos of the party. 12 fully vaccinated older ladies and 3 staff, many boostered, many fat and diabetic – 11 of the 15 are now positive, 3 in the hospital and 1 is fighting for her life. One of the daughters informed me this weekend that the very ill mother had told her twice that Joy on The View had repeatedly stated this year that parties were great if everyone is vaccinated. This misinformation is causing severe health problems for the viewers. Where are the Youtube and Twitter censors for this? This is hubris of the first order. As I have repeatedly stated, the Ancient Greeks believed the only entity able to clean up Hubris was Nemesis.
Let me put it this way – Santa is not the only character that is going to be flying through the midnight clouds this week. When Nemesis comes, she is like a thief in the night.
Part of being an excellent physician is to constantly assume everything will be the worst case scenario – and work for that not to happen. I apologize if over the past months, I have been a bit of a downer – it is how I work – always assume the worst case and prepare accordingly. All the while being the Rock of Gibraltar for your patients and their families. That is guidance that has streamed through medicine from the most ancient of times. I must say I do not have a good feeling about this at all. Our hospital, like many others across the country, is now with a very diminished crew. Our federal officials have not only not helped, they have actively done things to make this situation infinitely worse.
Again – I do not know if what I am experiencing is actually Omicron. And I would like to add as a medical professional for 30 years, I am just as confused as everyone else about our chances with Omicron. It is all fog right now – hopefully this will not be that bad. The next few weeks will be telling. I am praying daily.
I am likely going to be so busy the next few weeks that I will not be around here much. I will absolutely stay in touch with Yves and Lambert and the brain trust. But I have this feeling a tsunami is on the way.
This is what I would tell everyone to do right now – Be mindful of everyone in your life. Help those and look after those in your world who cannot help themselves. Elder and ill should not be in the grocery stores or post office or whatever in the coming weeks. Please please look after every one of them in your life. If you are fat, do something about it starting today. Walk, run, get out in the sun. De-stress. Sleep well. Eat exceedingly well. Get off the Doritos and Dr. Pepper. Start taking VIT D 4000 units daily today. Zinc 50-100 mg* daily today. VIT C 1000 mg daily today. Get POVIDONE/IODINE solution from the pharmacy or make your own nasal spray from Betadine ( recipes all over the web). Spray your nose and gargle twice daily. If you are going to or hosting a party, have every single person hose their nose down with POVIDONE before going in the house. Do it again as they are leaving. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT use the same nose spray for everyone. Each individual should have their own.
Most importantly, put down the flame throwers and blow torches. I learned a very important lesson during the AIDS crisis. We are all going to have work as a team or this is going to be the end of us all.

Mistake on my part from the sleep derived brain. That is the therapeutic dosing when someone is already sick and positive. And only for a few days.
A standard issue daily lozenge or 1 or 2 pills daily (on the order of 5-10 mg) is perfect during the prophylactic stage.
Sorry all. Yet another reason why NC commenters are indispensable.
I really need to be careful about this on this kind of forum. Thank you for pointing this out.

Something cracked in my own narrative about Covid and today I'm resolute the fight the tyranny while laughing at the absurdity of it. My kids' colleges are forcing boosters on the students, my husband's office pushed back their return to the office again, and the media is at full panic.

They are trying to recreate March 2020 and they all look like lunatics. The look in their eyes, their voice tone, the mannerisms, the words they use - all signs of diagnosable mental illness. I couldn't see it before and thought they could be reasoned with or something so horrible would happen it would snap them out it. I don't think that's possible and the longer people play along - even by arguing and trying to convince them they are wrong - the more they will ramp up protective measures for our own good.

A tangent to the main lines of enquiry here, but walking past a masked and indignantly fearful elderly couple the other day, I remembered an observation our host made a few years ago. Commenting on Guy McPherson's prediction of Near-Term Human Extinction in around the year 2030, you pointed out that this was a rather convenient fit for the expiry date of the Boomer generation, a generation so convinced of its own centrality that it couldn't imagine the world continuing in its absence.

Pneumonia was known in earlier times as "the old man's friend", since something has to carry you off, and it rarely kills anyone who isn't elderly enough to be ready to go. Setting aside, for a moment, the graver fears about the scenario currently playing out, what struck me was the uncanny coincidence that, just as the generation that can't imagine a world without it enters its last decade, so we have been transported to a parallel universe in which everything must stop and social existence is to be paralysed at all kinds of cost in order to prevent the elderly from getting pneumonia.

Not the whole story, by any stretch of the imagination, but it's an aspect of the collective madness that hadn't hit me until this week.

Not so sure about that last assertion working every time, but we have reached stage 3.

Just for grins, a search of "unexpected deaths" on a news feed turned up nothing relevant. A month ago, it was scroll, scroll, scroll.

Searching "athlete sudden deaths" popped up a debunking article on the short video of athletes collapsing in mid play that was going around a couple of weeks ago. The darling presenter brought up the fact that three of the athletes had not been vaccinated or collapsed before the shots were available. A good point, and it points to possible overenthusiasm on the part of the editors. She did not mention the many other clips and pictures of headlines, just quick, cut to talking heads saying no, not possible, sport is stressful, collape numbers not up, not happening.

I've been wondering too, to what extent "long covid" is adverse vaccine effects. My ex brother in law is dealing with such, since last summer. So is the brother of a co-worker. It is also beginning to sound like many of us anticipated, that the vaccines may well be no defense against Omicron, and perhaps a net harm. If Omicron effects vaccinated kids worse than unvaccinated, the end of the "Radiance" and their planned global technocracy may be imminent.

Long covid has been around since before the vaccines; my paramedic relative struggled through several months of it in 2020 and was still not at full fitness at approaching a year on. Said relative is, I should note, a fairly heavy smoker and prone to depressive episodes, which may or may not have been factors.

That's not to say long covid isn't being used as a cover for other things now, of course - I have no idea!

I wonder what the world will look like in 2030? It's pretty clear all the places that have bought into the vex are going to be sick and dying. The world will be inherited by the people and the places that didn't.

So, parts of N America go away, most of europe goes away, what I saw, Latin America has also bought into the vex, so I guess they go away.

Are there any parts of Asia that didn't? It looks like Africa hasn't and Russia hasn't, at least not seriously. So southern rednecks, Russkies and Africans? That's what's going to drive the 21st c?

I think...

the laptop class is being shown that they are not only NOT the smartest people in the room but that it appears that what they consider the dumb riffraff was right more often then not. they can't handle this realization but, THIS is what is causing their despair.

His absolute failure to understand 9th grade biology, which was VERY evident, more than exemplifies my theory.

I honestly was only able to make it half way through the articles before i came back here because the insufferable whining "I'm not getting my way, I quit my job because they wouldn't do what i wanted etc., etc. was literally too much.

Ah well, as my now ex-wife is a member of that class and with those attitudes i have had my fill. hence the X part. unfortunately these idiots are still mostly in charge of the affairs of this country so expect more doubling down.
