Big John GreerIt's getting on for midnight, so we can proceed with a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism and I'll do my best to answer it. Any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. (Any question received after then will not get an answer, and will more than likely just be deleted.) If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 143,916th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.0 of The Magic Monday FAQ here.

The photo? One of my readers mentioned a little while back that a namesake of mine was a R&B saxophonist back in the 1940s and 1950s. I decided to check him out, and here he is in all his musical glory. Check out one of his tunes here. As far as I know, he's not a relative, though you never know -- there's been far more interracial marriage in American history, to say nothing of less formal interactions, than anybody likes to admit in these polarized times. If he does turn out to be a distant cousin I won't be unhappy.

(If Big John Greer was an occultist, that fact didn't make it into his online bios, but of course it's always possible -- between hoodoo on one end of the African-American community, and a plethora of urban magical lodges on the other end, there was no shortage of black American occultism when his career was rolling...)

I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use the button above to access my online tip jar. If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page
here and my SubscribeStar page here.

Bookshop logoI've also had quite a few people over the years ask me where they should buy my books, and here's the answer. Bookshop.org is an alternative online bookstore that supports local bookstores and authors, which a certain other gargantuan corporation doesn't, and I now have a shop there, which you can check out here. Please consider patronizing it if you'd like to purchase any of my books online.

With that said, have at it!

***This Magic Monday is now closed. See you next week!***

Agreed on every account.

Also, considering that homeopathy works on the etheric/subtle level of being, the frequency/complexity of the electromagnetic field should have a bigger effect than the raw power behind it. For this reason, power cords should be Ok as long as you keep your meds one or two inches away. On the other hand, electronics cast off noxious fields that could break or at least twist the signature of the remedy (nobody has done the research, AFAIK). This is specially true of cell phones, Wifi routers and other radio devices because those have transceivers and antennas designed to project an actual signal into the distance (though purely passive receivers are probably not that bad).

If you think about it, the fact that homeopathy has any effect *at all* in this time and age is a Miracle!!!

I can vouch for the phone signal and in general some electronics, but not all, to me it makes the room feel "on-edge" impossible to settle in as if they emit some sort of flash that saturates my psychic senses. Ever since I banned my phone from being close to my room I can sleep much more peacefully.

Has anyone found ways to deal with sensitivity to that kind of stuff on everyday life? I am embarrassed to say that I looked if someone had tried a faraday cage (a set of metal wire mesh that disrupts electromagnetic radiation) and it turns out there is a beanie with one embedded on it, but I felt like a tin foil hat maniac and didn't look further into it but I guess there might actually be something to that...

Unfortunately I've had to learn to live with it and now practice acceptance towards it. I also make a point to get outside as much as possible.

Thanks! Going outside and planting my feet somewhere green has always helped me too. I either will have to move somewhere more peaceful away from big cities or learn how to close down something that has been apparently on ever since I was born. I can see problems with the latter since apparently, I also seem to make use of those inputs for other everyday stuff.

What I don't know and it is sometimes a source of worry is the effects of these things. Is it just being sensible to it or does it actually do harm? Because sometimes it feels like the latter.

Imo, I don't think it has a good effect but we can learn to live it since that's the karma we were born with. You may consider looking into Ben Greenfield. He's a health expert who has completely EMF proofed his house. I know that's not in the cards for most of us, but some of the principles could be carried out on a smaller scale.

Just want to say that as part of our continuing “collapse now and avoid the rush” program, husband took down our wireless router two weeks ago, and it was only then that I realized that the atmosphere in our home improved noticeably.

I did not realize it before, but there had been a subtle layer of anxiety that is now notable by its absence.

We were never meant to exist in a magnetic vacsum; rather, the planet Earth has its own magnetic field, which you can align with?

Maybe you can experiment with the placement of your bed? There is this Feng Shui source, which recommends avoiding a west-east placement in favor of a north-south (ish) placement. https://www.yourchineseastrology.com/feng-shui/bedroom/bed-placement.htm

On the same note, I have heard the recommendation to use a magnet to reinforce the North-South alignment. The energy of the magnet will not isolate you as a Faraday cage, but it should add a nicely shaped field to "smooth" the other chaotic signals from the electronic pollution.

I've had some good luck with the Bach essences. Not fantastic results, but definitely noticeable.
