support groupThe semi-open posts  I've hosted here on the Covid-19 narrative, the inadequately tested experimental drugs for it, and the whole cascading mess surrounding them have continued to field a gargantuan (and increasing) number of comments, so I'm opening another space for discussion. The rules are the same as before:

1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.

2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.

3. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.

With that said, the floor is open for discussion.

Some further cracks appearing: the rapper Nicki Minaj is being criticized for Tweeting about being hesitant about the Covid vaccines. From the Guardian:
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/sep/15/nicki-minaj-rarely-a-dull-moment-for-the-outspoken-rapper

"This week there was outrage after the 38-year-old rapper confirmed she wouldn’t attend the Met Gala, an event where her appearance alone generates headlines, because of the organisers’ insistence on attenders being vaccinated against Covid-19. Minaj tweeted to her 22 million followers that her Trinidadian cousin’s friend had become impotent after being vaccinated and she was reluctant to take it until they have “done enough research”."

Someone with a working class background has enough common sense to not jump onto the dogpile of virtue signalers. Go figure. It's actually a little inspiring, unlike her lyrics.

NICKI: I think I’ll wait for more information.

OUR BETTERS: Nicki, you ignorant slut. Shut up and sing!

🙄

I hope she stands firm.

[Those too young to laugh at “Nicki, you ignorant slut”; ask Grandma and Grandpa. 😄)

She's actually caused a bit of a problem, and is maintaining her position admirably! I have young people in the house so I know a bit more about this than I would otherwise have reason to. In case anyone is curious:

The criticism of her mostly takes the easy joke (she said her cousin's friend's testicles swole up after the shot, causing his fiance to call off their wedding) and runs with it, but that wasn't even the crux of what she said. She uses twitter mostly to talk to her fans. Fans asked her why she wasn't attending the Met Gala (where the rich fashionable people go to dress up funny together). She answered that since she has a one-year-old child whom she cares for herself, no nannies, and she's not vaccinated, she's not going to put her health at risk just to be seen. If she gets vaccinated, she's not doing it for the Met Gala, she said. Then she said she still has questions about the vaccines and is doing her research. She had covid already and her symptoms were no worse than those of the vaccinated people she knows who had breakthroughs. Then she said she'll probably get it when she's ready, and encouraged fans to wear masks and to pray on it and get the vaccine if it was their decision, but not just because they were bullied.

For that she got attacked and ridiculed from all over, her statements mischaracterized as though she urged people against the vaccine. Joy Reid, the MSNBC pundit, tried to scold her, to which Minaj responded very ably. Tucker Carlson commended her on his show and suggested that the attacks were so pointed not because of what she'd claimed about the vaccine's effects but because she'd told people to decide for themselves. She re-tweeted that and then fended off comments that she shouldn't have done that because, "You know he's a white supremacist, right?"

The show goes on. Dr. Fauci and Boris Johnson have weighed in. Nicki claims the White House invited her to come talk about it, the White House denies it and says they just offered to have a doctor call her and give her the facts. Twitter suspended her account for spreading misinformation.

Of course this is just normal sick pop-culture spectacle, but it's fascinating to watch the whole machine jerk into motion against her for making a few common-sense statements. She's not a political artist at all. I confess I'm enjoying watching how easily she breezes through this. Maybe I have a soft spot--her persona is like a cartoon/superhero version of a lot of West Indian New Yorker women I know--but if you know the lingo well enough to follow her, she's funny, sharp-tongued, and very smart. For the many millions of people whose world Nicki Minaj is part of, this is completely in character for her; the powers that be were right to think her twitter statements will have an effect, and of course they had to jump in and make it much worse with their idiotic responses. They've managed to create a scenario where she's obviously the level-headed, reasonable one!

A little embarrassed to be promoting Nicki Minaj on here, but I could do worse. She earned it! *shrug*

Thank you very much for this report.
It's great to get info from "those at the scene" instead of through the Big Name Media filter.

FWIW, Wikipedia has an entry about this incident too; it seems to mostly agree with your account. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicki_Minaj#COVID-19_vaccine_tweets
