The electromagnetic 'red sprites' are just discharges of energy above thunderstorms. Because they happen above the clouds instead of below where we can see them, they were anecdotal until 1994 when video recordings were finally able to capture them. They are still poorly understood. Earthquake lights are in the same category. Until scientists understand electromagnetism better they are going to hold off on admitting that they happen. After all how would you test something like that in the lab if you don't know how it's generated in the first place? It's embarrassing to admit something happens but can't give any explanation of how it occurs.
'Anime Neon Genesis Evangelion'??? Huh? What the heck is that word salad supposed to mean? I've never been a fan of anime as I find the artwork quasipornographic. Anything anime fans say is something I wouldn't swallow even with a brick made of salt.
The Book of Revelations is an esoteric work, not to be taken literally word for word. It does not predict the end of the world but describes the harrowing spiritual journey some have to take. All of us are on a journey. For some of us it's easy. For others they need to be dragged kicking and screaming. It's these latter that the book is for.
I don't think the Christian god is down and out just yet. We are basically going through a changing of the guard. What will come after all of this is anyone's guess. All I can say is break out the the popcorn and root beer. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.
