That's extremely effective, especially because you were taught it in the traditional fashion and have been practicing it since childhood. Those are sources of great magical strength.

Are prayers and sign of the cross the same as a banishing ritual, if the prayer is to banish the evil spirits?

Good question. You'd have to experiment and find out.

Since I've got a demonic presence troubling me at present, I think I'll attempt this experiment and see what happens. This will be my first attempt at creating my own ritual, so it should be an interesting learning experience for me. I think I'll use traditional prayers to St. Michael and St. Raphael. They both seem rather good at expelling demons and evil spirits.

St. Michael finally came down himself and expelled the demon in the case dramatized as The Exorcist. I can say he’s never let me down, though I have never had a problem as serious as that, thank God. Let us know how it works out!
