I am not the author of the paper. I greatly respect the author though. Oh and the way I understand that site is that anyone can publish an academic style paper on it. It's more for informal academic writing not tied to an institution. I can't imagine the author got a ton of pushback, I've seen some genuinely low quality papers on there, and this isn't one.
