I don't know of anything in occult literature, but if you mean the nonreligious stuff that fills supermarkets and shopping malls at this season, there are perfectly good reasons for that. Most of it is really dreadful music. Good music has richness and variation in the melody line and harmony; it evokes a variety of emotional responses, sometimes a very great variety. By contrast, holiday schmaltz has a dead uniform emotional tone, a vapid plastic cheerfulness meant to get you into a good mood so you'll buy stuff you don't need. And the performers -- dear gods, the sheer oozing fakeness of their voices! The fact that they make you sick shows that you have decent musical taste.
