This isn't occult lore, but I did have a natural healing practitioner tell me that salt water creates negative ions in the air, which are supposed to be beneficial. She said that's why people use salt lamps, to create negative ions and reap some of the benefits of salt air.
I've never tested the theory, but maybe there would be a health benefit to using a salt lamp to gain some part of the benefit you find by the sea?
