Is there any reason they couldn't have such a connection back home while here? If so, then it is also possible these souls coming here is the (misnamed) Lemurian Deviation, and demonic activities are their loved ones trying to get them home. This would explain both why demons seem so obsessed with buying souls and why some people seem eager to sell their soul.....
