Magic Monday

Also: I will not be putting through or answering any more questions about practicing magic around children. I've answered those in simple declarative sentences in the FAQ. If you read the FAQ and don't think your question has been answered, read it again. If that doesn't help, consider remedial reading classes; yes, it really is as simple and straightforward as the FAQ says. And further: I've decided that questions about getting goodies from spirits are also permanently off topic here. The point of occultism is to develop your own capacities, not to try to bully or wheedle other beings into doing things for you. I've discussed this in a post on my blog.
The image? I field a lot of questions about my books these days, so I've decided to do little capsule summaries of them here, one per week. Given the events scheduled tomorrow, I've pulled this one forward out of order; it's my 65th published book, the one that got me banned from science fiction conventions (despite 18 SF and fantasy novels currently in print) and dropped like a hot rock by most of the Neopagans I know. No, it's not a work of science fiction, nor does it have much to say about Neopaganism. It's a discussion of why the policies embraced by a bipartisan consensus of the elite classes in the US made the rise of Donald Trump or somebody like him inevitable. Yes, it also talks about magic -- the magical manipulations that were used for fifty years to silence any attempt to talk publicly about what the policies just mentioned did to the working classes in the United States, the magic wielded by a motley band of (mostly) young men living in their mothers' basements who marched off to the Meme Wars beneath the banner of a cartoon frog, and the magic attempted by the so-called Magic Resistance, whose attempts to cast death curses and other equally pleasant spells at the people they hate did a lot to bring about the events of last November and the days immediately before us.
That is to say, it's just a little controversial. ;-) On the off chance you're interested anyway, you can order a copy here if you live in the US and at your favorite online shop or full service bookstore if you live elsewhere.
Buy Me A Coffee
Ko-Fi
I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use either of the links above to access my online tip jar; Buymeacoffee is good for small tips, Ko-Fi is better for larger ones. (I used to use PayPal but they developed an allergy to free speech, so I've developed an allergy to them.) If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page here and my SubscribeStar page here.

Re: Ecosophia Prayer List
Date: 2025-01-21 01:39 am (UTC)Linda goes into surgery Wednesday, in case anyone would like to put an extra prayer in her name. I will update everyone as soon as I know anything. She also told me to send her gratitude, she is sure that the only reason that everything has gone smoothly and her spirits have been as high as always is because of all the people that have been praying for her. So in her name, thank you all!
From me, my heartfelt gratitude goes to all as well, Linda is the closest thing I've had to family in the U.S and she has saved my sanity during and after the pandemic more than once with the beautiful space she creates in the bookshop and library of the TS and with her calm listening. The news of her turbo-cancer shook me and to see all the people pouring good vibes into her and her walking calmly and confident with it into into whatever the situation might bring, is inspiring. What a titan!
Neptune in Aries
Date: 2025-01-21 01:47 am (UTC)I have recently gotten into astrology (I preordered your forthcoming book the other day) and was wondering if you had any thoughts on Neptune completing one full astrological cycle and moving back into Aries on March 30 this year? To a novice like me, that seems momentous!
(Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, as I said I am still getting caught up with this blog)

Re: astral dream vs enter reality
Date: 2025-01-21 03:18 am (UTC)“These are the few who sought to die to their lower selves whilst they were still alive.” You need to prepare for death and develop a strategy for the astral as once you’re dead it can be hard to grasp that you’re permanently without your body. Also this means in spiritual sense you have to give up your ‘body’, the material body.
“These are the mystics who enter reality." Souls that don’t go for the reincarnation, yes there are souls that ‘rest’ and wait for the end of times = when the time wheel completes all eons, about 13000 years, and all purged souls move onto a different life path.
Re: The Stranger Side of Ketamine
Date: 2025-01-21 03:42 am (UTC)One of the most interesting accounts from that period was Journeys into the Bright World by Marcia Moore and Howard Alltounian (her husband, and an anesthesiologist, at that time at the University of Washington in Seattle). The book (https://archive.org/details/journeysbrightworld) documents their, and especially her, experiences with ketamine. Moore, who was a well-known yoga teacher and astrologer, vanished, perhaps in connection with ketamine experimentation. Her skull was later found, and for a while her husband was a "person of interest", but I do not think this led to any charges. (Though he did leave the UW, and Seattle.)
There is a recent book about the case (Dematerialized), which I haven't seen. (https://oconnor.nyc/2021/11/dematerialized-the-mysterious-disappearance-of-marcia-moore/)

Re: My sister has apparently lost it
Date: 2025-01-21 03:58 am (UTC)Dear Anonymous,
Not a lot to suggest about spiritual remedy of the situation except that Kyle and Milkyway offer weekly healing sessions through this forum (which doubtless you know).
Having seen numerous counsellors and psychiatrists myself, and not being organically insane but suffering from distress like your sister, I should estimate the chance of her receiving real help through this means as exceeding low. Even non-drug therapy can easily cause more distress, and this from the very attitudes and assumptions of the doctors. If she finds one she likes and can trust, very well. In a hospital situation that seems unlikely and access to that person will probably be unreliable.
But is it possible for her to live at home?

I think even now, he's still a mental wreck.

Date: 2025-01-21 04:18 am (UTC)These sleepwalking lunatics are still imagining that, by simply over-saturating the mainstream with their preferred narratives, they have the power to bend reality to their will. After the inescapable sanctions straight-jacket that wasn't, the universal vaccine mandates that fizzled, and the Que Mala victory that time forgot, I would have expected our failed overlords to at least be getting the glimmer of a clue at this point. But no, they're just doubling down on their disastrously failed magical bungling. Ok, so it worked once, big deal! Their target audience figured out what they were doing and adapted accordingly. I have to say, these globe-straddling midwits appear to have deftly honed their opponents' skills, while irredeemably dulling their own.
So my question is, what tends to happen when would-be overlords get so high on their own supply that they can’t learn any lessons from their own copious failures? Do the majority eventually wake up and leave behind whatever minority remains rocking consolingly in their safe spaces? Do the majority retreat ever further into echo chambers of their own making, in order to lick each other’s wounds? Do they tend to circular firing squad any fringe doubters into finally waking up and getting a clue? In other words, how much longer would you predict that we’ll have to endure this particular brand of mindless mainstream drivel?

Date: 2025-01-21 04:37 am (UTC)That.
My mother was one of those. My father once (only half-jokingly) said he'd funded her doctor's retirement.
I discovered the scam when I went to a guy for EAP (series of 6 visits funded by work). He was great for those 6 visits. I decided to keep seeing him on my own dime, open-ended, and as soon as that started, he turned utterly worthless. I think they are literally trained not to help people get better. And then they have the gall to call other treatments "quackery" and "snake oil".
