Open (More or Less) Post on Covid 165
Oct. 1st, 2024 11:40 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

So it's time for another open post. The rules are the same as before:
1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry and its government enablers are causing injury and death on a massive scale. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.
2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its wholly owned politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.
3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue.
4. If you plan on making off topic comments, please go away. This is an open post for discussion of the Covid epidemic, the vaccines, drugs, policies, and other measures that supposedly treat it, and other topics directly relevant to those things. It is not a place for general discussion of unrelated topics. Nor is it a place to ask for medical advice; giving such advice, unless you're a licensed health care provider, legally counts as practicing medicine without a license and is a crime in the US. Don't even go there.
5. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. Also, please don't drag in current quarrels about sex, race, religions, etc. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.
Please also note that nothing posted here should be construed as medical advice, which neither I nor the commentariat (excepting those who are licensed medical providers) are qualified to give. Please take your medical questions to the licensed professional provider of your choice.
With that said, the floor is open for discussion.
A Reminder of the Dark Days of the Lockdowns
Date: 2024-10-03 02:27 am (UTC)“I want to speak about how we are in conflicting spaces because it’s almost like we are occupying three different spaces at the same time and we need to reconcile these and get out of a couple of these spaces. But one of them is we are all enjoying a respite. Today it is May 31st, 2024. We haven’t been locked down for two years and we have the truckers to thank for that because they forced the government to understand that the citizens were getting to the point that they would not tolerate it anymore. And so, thank you, truckers. And it has been witness after witness, including yesterday with Jamie Salé saying, “it was watching your convoy, it was watching you take action” that inspired her to start stepping out, and I know myself personally it was watching you take action that gave me the courage to start taking action and standing up. You truckers [long pause] I think will never understand the impact that you’ve had because it wasn’t just what you did in Ottawa it’s what you caused by being an inspiration.
“But we are in this respite now. We’re feeling normal. You know, we’re approaching summer and many of us are thinking, “Oh, am I going to go to the lake? Am I going do this? Am I going to do that?’ You’re pretending that it’s normal and you’re trying to enjoy this respite. That’s one of the spaces you’re in. But another one of the spaces you are in is you understand that things are ‘off’. Some of you actually understand that you are in a trap. Some of you just know that there is something wrong. You know that things aren’t right… And so, here, in one space you are trying to enjoy this normalcy and in another space alarm bells are ringing in the back of your mind. You understand in your gut that there is something wrong… And the third space we are in is we are all absolutely traumatized and the nation is absolutely traumatized. You know, in the stages of grief I think we are in the full stage of denial. So, let me speak about the trauma space first. Because I think one of the problems we are having is we are in our second year where we’ve largely been left alone and we are so traumatized that we want to be left alone. And so, we’re ignoring the second space that we are in a trap and the door is closing.
“Last year, it was when we were holding hearings in 2023, people were still afraid. I remember I was afraid to go in front of the camera – I did not want to go in front of the camera. I did not want the Canadian government to know that I was involved in the NCI. I did not want to become a target. And I know a lot of our witnesses didn’t, and we had a lot of witnesses back down because of fear: fear of economic consequences at work; fear of social consequences; fear of other consequences. And this year we’ve still had some witnesses back down, but the level of fear is down. So, we are in this respite. But I think we need to understand that what we went through has traumatized us. We need to look at that trauma and we need to deal with it.
“I used the example yesterday and it’s a shocking example where, after the 2023 hearings – so we are in the spring of 2023 - and I gave two lectures in Alberta. And I asked the two crowds, I said, “put up your hand if in the middle of the dark days of covid you honestly believed that the Canadian army would be going door-to-door, dragging unvaccinated people out of their homes and forcibly vaccinating them.” And almost every hand in those two audiences went up. Now think about that for a second. In Canada. In the province of Alberta. A significant number of Canadians honestly believed that the army would be used to go door-to-door dragging unvaccinated people out of their homes and forcibly vaccinating them. Now, you can’t have that belief – and, you know, I have to say that that had crossed my mind and was a worry that I had in the middle of covid and it did not help that in the province of Alberta the opposition leader, Rachel Notley, was calling for the army to go door-to-door.
“So, how does a nation overcome that type of trauma? And recall, we had our Prime Minister saying – and it was broadcast nationally – saying, “how long will we tolerate them?” “Them” meaning the unvaxxed. And at the same time in Canada, at the beginning of covid, the federal government was building detention camps in Canada. We had Natalie Wilson yesterday – a sitting MLA during covid – basically explain to us that the Premier of Saskatchewan used the same language: “How long will we tolerate them?” And it doesn’t matter if you were vaccinated or not vaccinated, when you have national leaders speaking like that it traumatizes you also. And the division. The division that was created between the unvaxxed and the vaxxed: literal hatred. That traumatized us. It didn’t matter what camp you were in. Families were divided; lifetime friendships were ended. Animosity was created because we were taught to fear each other. And when we fear for our very lives and the lives of our family we begin to hate. And we begin to despise.
“… We watched anyone who stood up being attacked. Whether you were a police officer, a doctor, a nurse, you were attacked. Many of those we called as a witness. You know, it’s curious – we had Dr. Hodkinson, a pathologist, on the stand yesterday: I didn’t ask him the question, but he is facing professional disciplinary proceedings this fall. And the names – Dr. Hoffe who testified, Dr. Chris Milburn, our first witness who testified – I mean, these people are being attacked. We’re calling a nurse tomorrow who, I think, today is actually in professional misconduct proceedings as we speak.
“So, people were being attacked for standing up – for actually exercising their freedom of expression. And this has traumatized us. And I think we have to understand how traumatized we are, because we need to act and we need to act quickly. And so, we need to get out of the denial stage.

Date: 2024-10-04 03:51 am (UTC)What a relief to hear it finally admitted!
I tried in late 2022 to say something about lockdown being traumatic, in a class nominally on coping with trauma, and all I got from the presenter was flat denial. I feel I was convicted of wrongthink then and there. I never had a fair hearing with that trainer. None of my class over the following year ever approached the topic with me.
